Socialism is opposed to privatisation. In The Road to Serfdom Hayek coined "Socialism means slavery" and equated it with Nazism. Hayek said majority of people were deluding themselves 'that socialism and freedom can be combined.' Growth of Govt would lead to totalitarianism.

Tories jump on this by 'not governing' and only campaigning while systematically and stealthily reducing Govt, deregulating laws that protect the worker, consumer so the sovereign individual can be free to keep their money and not pay taxes that would sustain public services

You rarely hear opposition parties use the word socialism anymore. Trade Unions have been successfully demonised so much by the right that Kwasi Kwarteng ad Grant Schapps just passed a law that will fine trade unions up to £1 million for strike action.

Free markets are touted by Tories as emblems of freedom, independence and democracy, if this is the case why are families across the UK being punished by energy companies exorbitant bills as CEO/Shareholder profits soar to billions?

To the libertarian right the reforms after WWII and The Great Depression were an 'illegitimate revolution.' FDR's New Deal moved US away from laissez-faire capitalism. Govt regulated banks, promoted unions, employment relief, as well as housing welfare.

Marx 'the drive for profit by business owners in the capitalist system would push worker wages to ‘subsistence’ levels and that they would be exploited' Ultimately, exploited workers would form unions. overthrow capitalism and replace it with socialism in a revolution.
