Alito is a member of the Federalist Society, a group of conservatives & libertarian lawyers & legal students, founded in 1982 by a group of students who wanted to challenge liberal/left-wing ideology that they perceived to dominate most elite American law schools & universities.
The organization's stated objectives are "checking federal power, protecting individual liberty & interpreting the Constitution according to its original meaning".

They appear to have more in common with the Taliban & Christian fundamentalists than more civilised people.
The Federalist Society is the de facto gatekeeper for right-wing lawyers aspiring to Govt jobs under Republican presidents: Reagan & Bush aimed to nominate conservative judges, & membership in the Federalist Society was a proxy for adherence to conservative ideology.
The Federalist Society has played a key role in suggesting judicial nominees to Trump; it vetted Trump's list of potential US Supreme Court nominees &, as of March 2020, 43 out of 51 of President Trump's appellate court nominees were current or former members of the society.
Just as a network of US billionaire-funded free-market/libertarian think tanks & institutions have exerted enormous influence over US Government economic & social policy, so too the Federalist Society influences US law - hence the regressive & barbaric overturning of #RoeVsWade.
Of the current nine members of the US Supreme Court, six are current or former members of the dangerous libertarian fundamentalist Federalist Society (Brett Kavanaugh, Neil Gorsuch, Clarence Thomas, John Roberts, Samuel Alito, and Amy Coney Barrett).
The Federalist Society has become one of the most influential legal organizations in history, changing American society by deliberately & diligently shifting the country's judiciary to the right, & it hosted a fringe event at the Conservative Party’s annual conference in 2018.
Speaking at the event was Conservative MEP David Campbell Bannerman, alongside Martin Howe QC.

Other political links include GB "News" presenter Nigel Farage, who addressed a Federalist Society event, as did dangerous extremist Matthew Goodwin of the dodgy Legatum Institute.
The Legatum Institute, which lobbies against climate action, is behind the funding of GB "News" & is a think tank set up by Baroness Philippa Stroud who has spoken against telemedicine for abortions.

Influential UK think tanks with close access to ministers have received millions in ‘dark money’ donations from the US. The IEA has boasted that 14 members of Boris Johnson’s cabinet – including the Priti Patel, Liz Truss & Kwasi Kwarteng, are “alumni of IEA initiatives”.
Ministers have recorded 26 meetings with the think tank since 2012, but there are also undeclared private meetings. In 2020, Liz Truss failed to declare two meetings with the IEA, arguing that they were made in a personal capacity.

This lurch to the far-right has been happening in plain sight for many years, & is openly embraced by the Tufton St think tanks - & the UK Govt.

It was first reported in 2020 that John Penrose, Tory MP husband of Dido Harding, is linked to free-market group 1828 which has called for the #NHS to be replaced by an insurance system. Apparently he is “delighted” to join its advisory board.

In 2019, the good people at Ducksoap warned us about the 1828 group, calling it an IEA creation: "a secretly funded right-wing (Tufton St) political lobby group", & yet another platform for anti-society anti-human pro-exploitation reckless philosophy of extreme free-marketeers.

World leading scholar on populism, Prof Ruth Wodak, is worried about European unity. Some EU countries abide by the EU conventions, others do not & some member states like Hungary & Poland behave as if nothing has been learned from history.

Prof. Wodak believes we are now living in a “post shame” age where all norms have been attacked by the populist and far-right parties. Lying for politicians has become so normal that nobody cares anymore whether they tell the truth or simply lie.
“This shamelessness also implies a mobilizing capacity because many people, Trump voters, for example, were very happy that Trump ‘finally said what everybody was thinking’.”

Despite many negative developments, Wodak thinks populist parties can be defeated at the ballot box.

While nearly a quarter of UK employees are union members, this is a much lower number than in many other *MORE EQUAL* European countries.

Nordic countries have far lower income inequality & higher trade union membership than Britain. 92.2% of workers belong to a union in Iceland & its Gini coefficient is just 26.1, compared with 41.5 in the US, where only 10.3% of workers are union members.
Over the past century, unions have successfully campaigned for a minimum wage, holiday & sickness pay, equal opportunity rights, maternity and paternity rights and a two-day weekend for British workers, among other benefits.

A recent poll of Tory voters conducted by JL Partners for the Telegraph showed 60% of them thought Sunak would make a good PM & 11% thought he'd be bad. The figures for Truss were 48% good & 32% bad. Among Tory VOTERS, Sunak is more popular & less polarising than Truss.
This was is reinforced by a poll from Opinium which asked respondents to identify who they thought did best in the leadership debate on ITV on July 17, when five candidates were still in the running. Sunak came second of the five with 24% of the vote. Truss came last with 7%. Image
A major problem for the Conservative Party is that its hard-right members & ERG extremists like Jacob Rees-Mogg actually disagree with Tory voters about who their leader should be. The @Conservatives may well end up with a leader popular in the party, but lacking in voter appeal. Image

Btw, I haven't suggested 'making thoughts illegal' - that'd be absurd. Britain already has many sensible free speech laws designed to make life better eg against paedophiles grooming kids online; defamation; inciting/celebrating violence, death threats, persecution or terrorism.
The people who suffer most from climate change won't be the wealthy journalists, politicians & presenters who are paid to mock/downplay the seriousness of climate change, nor the billionaires who fund the global network of free-market think tanks lobbying against climate action.
