IGAD Sheikh Technical Veterinary School and Reference Centre (ISTVS) gives opportunities rightfully belonging to #Somalilanders to students from Somalia under the guise of IGAD and “Somali”. 1/7

Somaliland government handed over the Sheikh Technical Veterinary School to IGAD under the supervision of the EU (3 million EUR project). This means the #Somaliland government knew the purpose of the transfer and what the school will be used for. 2/7
The project is implemented by Terra Nuova and under the auspices of African Union, Inter-African Bureau for Animal Resources. According to Terra Nuova’s website, the school’s purpose is “leading Somalia becoming a world leader in the export of live animals”

The aforementioned vision is confirmed by the school’s intake from 2018 (no data available after 2018). Somaliland’s ministry for education @moe_somaliland is complicit or wilfully ignorant. I will let you decide which is it is. 4/7
The school’s twitter and Facebook pages state that its purpose is to “improve food security and livestock sector in the Somali Ecosystem” which shows the school was set up for expansionist ethno nationalist purposes and not for IGAD as per its vision. 5/7
IGAD’s anti Somaliland approach and influence on the school and the undermining of #Somaliland’s sovereignty was apparent when the school posted COVID-19 update in 2020 about the Horn of Africa and used a map which denied the existence of Somaliland. 6/7
To add insult to injury, University of Hargeisa signed Memorandum of Understanding with the school. This means as scholarships are open to all and free, someone who is not Somalilander will have the opportunity to get educated for free at expense of a deserving Somalilander. 7/7

The treasonous acts by Mohamed Bihi Younis who served as Minister of Foreign affairs from 2013 to 2015 and Mohamoud Hashi Abdi who served as the Minister of Civil Aviation and Air Transport from 2010 to 2015 to transfer Somaliland Airspace to a failed state.

In a letter sent by Mohamud Hashi Abdi in 2013 (Silaanyo & Bihi Yonis copied in) to CACAS & ICOA has confirmed Somaliland’s request for the airspace to be transferred.

As always, the focus was how much instead of what is best for Somaliland as a country.

This is a classic example of kacaan orphans spreading miss information to glorify genocider Siad Barre. We will look into mentioned areas ie education, jobs, business, and housing. 1/5
From educational funding allocation’s perspective, Siad Barre destroyed a developing educational system which had 11% budget in early 1970s to 2% in mid 1980s. This has resulted in 640 schools and approximately 660 teachers in operation before he run away like a coward. 2/5
From business perspective, all business were nationalised and personal business were stolen. Somalia relied on agriculture but only 13% of the land was suitable for cultivation which somehow Barre’s inability to govern has reduced its GDP when you compare 1970 to 980. 3/5

Reasons why #Somaliland is not a secessionist.

1/10. Many uninformed and staunch anti-Somaliland individuals use the term ‘secession’ without understanding the legality of the word. Does Somaliland’s Declaration of Independence fall within secessionist criteria? Image
2/10. From international law perspective, secession means unilateral declaration of independence without the consent of the parent state. Somalia is not the parent state in this matter as there was a illegal union with Italian Somalia to form what was known as the Somali Republic
3/10. Two equal entities united illegally (See my thread below explaining why the union was illegal), Therefore Somaliland has legitimacy and does not need a consent as there is no parent state. A recent example of secessionism will be South Ossetia seceding from Georgia.
