The Taipei City Government should establish an International Affairs Department, and if I am fortunate enough to earn the Mayorship from the people of #Taipei, this will be a high priority.
In the past two days, @SpeakerPelosi of the U.S. House of Representatives visited Taiwan, capturing the attention of the international community, which in recent years has paid more and more attention to our country. /2
As the capital, Taipei City should play a more important role in Taiwan's global #engagement. /3
It is the responsibility of the City Government to maintain and expand Taipei's reputation as a world-class capital. The #InternationalAffairsDepartment will coordinate and lead all foreign affairs of Taipei City, contributing to the further internationalization of Taipei. /4
At present, the foreign-related business of the Taipei City Government is scattered under multiple units. This structure makes it difficult to delegate powers, outline the international vision of Taipei, and assume responsibilities for this aspect of city #governance. /5
The International Affairs Department of Taipei City will gather itself to recruit the most professional young talent, making every effort to promote #UrbanDiplomacy, as well as international trade and investment promotion. /6
The new, comprehensive organization will also focus vigorously on overseas marketing, international talent cultivation and exchanges, international #exhibitions and events, and services for foreign workers. /7
We will start from the organizational aspect, improve the capital structure, strengthen the depth and breadth of foreign-related work, and let the world enter Taipei while #Taiwan reaches out to the world! 8/8
