What are the roles of women in Hinduism?

There is no “fixed” and “immutable” position on anything in Hinduism and everything is conditioned by time, place and circumstance.
#Hinduism #SanatanaDharma #women
The role of women has changed over several centuries and will keep on changing.

Leaving aside the past and focusing on the PRESENT we can confidently say:
#Hinduism #SanatanaDharma #women
Biological role of women is the same as it has always been and always will be, in spite of the Post-modern gender theories.
#Hinduism #SanatanaDharma #women
Social role of Hindu women was to take charge of, and manage the home. With education and career pathways opening up many women choose to outsource this work and to focus on their careers - perfectly fine.
#Hinduism #SanatanaDharma #women
Professional role of Hindu women is whatever they want it to be - India elected a female Prime Minister and there are many women politicians, doctors, scientists, teachers etc.
#Hinduism #SanatanaDharma #women
In the west gender parity has not quite extended to construction work - in which Hindu women have been involved for centuries! So women can do whatever vocation or profession they like and to which they are suited.
#Hinduism #SanatanaDharma #women
Women's Religious: educating kids on Dharma, values, customs & traditions - TV & social media help nowadays. Religious positions are opening up with institutes teaching women priests. We also have gurvis) & sanyāsinis, although lesser than men.
#Hinduism #SanatanaDharma #women
Basically, nothing in Hinduism prohibits women from joining the priesthood or becoming monastics other than a professional aspiration on their part. There may be social pressure from families and other stakeholders which needs to be overcome.
#Hinduism #SanatanaDharma #women
Hindu women can do whatever they want - can make their own choices & there should be equality for all in terms of access to education, healthcare & job-opportunities.

Men should back off & give the ladies autonomy to make their own decisions.

Rig Veda 5;61;6— 8:

uta tvā strī śaśīyasī puṁso bhavati vasyasī | adevatrāda rādhase || 6 ||

vi yā jānāti jasuriṁ vi tṛṣyantaṁ vi kāminam | devatrā kṛṇute manaḥ || 7 ||

Many a woman is more steady and better than the man who turns away from the Gods, and serves not others. She who assists the weak and the worn, the person who thirsts and is in want; she sets her mind upon the Gods.
#Hinduism #SanatanaDharma #women
Sayana Comments — The wife and the husband being equal halves of one substance are equal in every respect, both should join and take equal part in all work - religious or secular.
#Hinduism #SanatanaDharma #women
For a working model of a modern progressive Hindu society we can look to BALI for inspiration. Women have been priests in Bali for centuries.

There are several important schools of the Kashmir Shaivism, of which the most elevated belong to the Trika system. The word "trika" is the Sanskrit for "trinity", suggesting the essential idea that everything in the universe has a threefold nature.
#yoga #Spirituality Image
Trika can be expressed as: Shiva (God), Shakti (His fundamental creative energy) & Anu (the individual, the limited projection of the divinity). Trika includes several spiritual schools: 1. Krama - in Sanskrit "process", "order", "controlled succession".
#yoga #Spirituality Image
2. Kaula (Kula) - in Sanskrit "community", "family", "totality". 3. Spanda - term denoting the Supreme Divine, Creative Vibration. 4. Pratyabhijna - term referring to the direct recognition of the Divine Essence.

Several Hindu Texts say that Surya is the supreme god despite there being million times larger things in Universe like 'Red Giants', What do the Hindu texts really want to signify here? Is Surya the supreme god or is there a philosophical meaning?
#SanatanaDharma Image
Hinduism is a really cryptic religion. As far as Surya Upasana, there are four to five different fundamental roots.
#SanatanaDharma Image
As Gratitude: Surya is a life giver. Everything on the Earth can be attributed to Surya. Nothing can sustain if energy from Surya is not available. Hence, we offer Gratitude to him.

Palmistry

If a man’s left hand that has a forked ending with upper end straight or nearly so means the mother was more practical. If upper line on right hand is more developed the man followed or cultivated mother's mental qualities more than those of the father.
#Palmistry Image
In a woman’s hand the reverse applies. On the other hand, if the lower line is the more developed on the right hand, then the subject, if a man, has developed the imaginative or artistic qualities of the mother, and vice versa if the subject is a girl or a woman.
#Palmistry Image
Where the Head Line is light/faint on left hand, strong & clear on the right, the subject didn't inherit a strong mental bent, has cultivated & developed his own mentality. Such a subject has been a strong student & has become mentally superior to his or her parents.

What was the genuine reason behind a "wedding" according to the Vedas?
To truly understand this “genuine” reason behind a wedding, we must first know Vedic nomenclature; thus its important that we start with some linguistics.
#SanatanaDharma #Vedas #Vedic Image
A wedding in Sanskrit is “vivāha” - it is comprised of two roots:–

vi = viśeṣa - specific or particular.

vāha = bearing, carrying, transporting.

So it refers to the taking on, or accepting of specific burdens or responsibilities.
#SanatanaDharma #Vedas #Vedic Image
So to elaborate, marriage is about responsibilities - duties and obligations which can best be dealt with as a couple.

Kundalini Process

"As the opening begins & deepens, the body may go through tremendous amount of shivers, shock waves & energy tremors. Kundalini is believed to be responsible for these, but if we just call it the body's energy, it's easier to talk about.
#yoga #Kundalini Image
As the opening progresses, the body must readjust. When space opens up, it provides room for the body to reharmonize and return to its natural state.
#yoga #Kundalini Image
During this process, some people's bodies experience a real shakedown and can be painful. This can be quite dramatic because energy that has been trapped on the various levels -- physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual -- is released.

Bhagwan Vishnu carries a mace which symbolizes Vishnu’s divine power is the source of all mental, spiritual, and physical strength. Is it true?

In this era we give an abstract reason for everything in scriptures.
#SanatanaDharma Image
To understand the Mace we must know the difference between Vishnu & his Krishna Avatar.

With Vishnu we can convert an idea into action any time, yielding a weak or a strong action i.e. we can vary the action's power, like we vary the power generated from Mace.
#SanatanaDharma Image
In contrast, with Krishna we can convert an idea into an action from our Positive attitude only, which would result in maximally efficient actions and ensure that all activities of our life are compatible among themselves.
