1/ The #Solanahack via a compromise on the Slope wallet has driven home the importance of using a cold wallet to secure your 24 words secret phrase.

@Ledger is one good cold wallet. But most don’t know about or use its additional “25th word” security feature. Quick 🧵👇👇👇

2/ The “25th” word is an advanced feature known as a “Passphrase”. It adds an additional layer of security on top of the base 24 words secret phrase. You can see it as a 2nd factor authentication if you will 🔐

3/ If by any chance your 24 words secret phrase is compromised, the hacker cannot get to your crypto assets as the 25th word is missing. The 25th word is entirely up to your creativity to create (unlike the 1st 24 words).

4/ When you use the Passphrase feature, you create a totally different wallet account with a different PIN to your Ledger wallet from your main account

5/ I would strongly recommend to decentralize and distribute your 24 words secret phrase and your 25th word at different physical locations.

6/ Use a vault service with good physical security to store your recovery phrase if possible. Security is number 1 priority in the crypto space with all the hacks going on. A little investment in security and management goes a long way.
