Thread: Thoughts and reflections of a (proudly) EX Cult 45 adherent after the historic 8/8/22 FBI search at Mar-a-lago.

There's a bunch of interviews and other info that helped me understand what the hell happened to the US between 2015 and 2022.

Here are some of them.
I chose the above photo because we must #NeverForget the Holocaust, so it will be #NeverAgain.

The aftermath of the 10/27/18 killing of 11 innocent people at the Tree of Life Synagogue, Pittsburgh told us a lot about T**** and his inner circle then, and now.
No one in American history has done more than T**** to encourage antisemitism, terrorism, and the downfall of the republic itself. Yet he was welcomed to Pittsburgh by the rabbi of that synagogue. I defended the visit, and will never stop apologizing for that. Mea culpa.
Here is an article about it, from where I sourced the photo. IMO, Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump are up to their eyeballs in culpability for most of the crimes committed in the T**** campaign, presidency, and since. History will not be kind to them.

seattletimes.com/nation-world/i…
The parallels between the rise and conduct of the Third Reich and those responsible for the present day T**** movement are striking.

Antisemitism is, of course, not the only form of hatred the movement's leaders encourage and enable. But it is a good place to start questioning.
When I left the cult, I started studying a lot of material about it.

The one-hour interviews of key people by the Commonwealth Club of California were extremely helpful.

Super relevant rn is this one: Former FBI head of counterespionage Peter Strzok
This one was utterly fascinating and eye-opening. If you only watch one video from this thread, make it this one:

Andrea Bernstein: The Trumps, The Kushners and American Greed

Essentially, any author or commentator that maga world gets viciously angry about is likely to be someone you should read or hear.

This 2019 Malcolm Nance interview is great, and there are bound to be more recent in-depth interviews with him, too.

Carol Leonnig's work examining T****'s Big Lie is highly recommended reading. But she is also an expert on the US Secret Service, which has exposed itself in previously unimaginable ways.

Unreformed, they're now a threat to national security.

Someone I regularly listen to is Rick Wilson. His takes are almost always spot-on. And, he gives zero fucks about what the cult members say about him.

Rick Wilson: Saving America From Trump (And Democrats From Themselves)

The unmitigated tragedy of the first year of the pandemic in the US must never be forgotten. Several hundred thousands of lives could have been saved.

Watch: Andy Slavitt: Inside the Doomed US Coronavirus Response

Wisconsin's finest.

Charles Sykes: How the Right Lost its Mind

I'd never have heard of Rep Zoe Lofgren if it wasn't for Jan 6. The former law professor's media interviews after hearings and other key events are always well informed and easy to understand.

Zoe Lofgren: A Conversation About the January 6th Attack

Another member of the Jan 6 Committee brains trust. Legal academic and public servant Jamie Raskin.

Rep. Jamie Raskin: Trauma, Truth, and the Trials of American Democracy

One of the best of the former-Republican bunch, Tim Miller.

His book Why We Did It sounds very interesting. His lifelong interest in politics was very similar to my own, just in a different country.

Tim Miller: Inside the New Republican Party

One of the first people I finally listened to as I left the cult was Mary L Trump PhD. She has now written two books, and her regular interviews and podcast episodes are gold.

Especially since the 8/8/22 FBI operation.😁

Mary Trump: The Reckoning

I hesitate to give anyone a second video mention but this very recent one by Malcolm Nance is too good an opportunity to pass up. Freshly back from 4 months literally fighting in Ukraine.

Malcolm Nance: Behind the Ideology of the Trump Insurgency

Just three quick tweets about Atlantic hurricane potential in August 2022.

Luckily, the season's been quiet af so far, as we near the halfway point in 3 weeks. There is a small chance of a US landfalling storm arising from the system below.

Source: nhc.noaa.gov/?atlc
It's far too early to tell where this might go, but we'll know more each day. The NE Pacific basin is all the way up to Tropical Storm Howard, but the Atlantic has only reached TS Colin.

The next storm names are Danielle, Earl, Fiona, Gaston, Hermine, Ian, Julia, and Karl.
As always, I encourage you to prepare for extreme weather and natural and other disasters that are possible in your region. ready.gov is a brilliant resource.

And pls donate blood routinely if you can. It's always needed.

Thread: This hilarious prank call needs to go viral.

I stumbled upon it while looking for recent news on Mike "My Pillow" Lindell because, frankly, he's beclowned himself in public for such a long time & I don't know why no one has stopped him yet.

Granted, when you have a lot of wealth it's often impossible for loved ones to protect you from yourself.

Between bouts of hysterical laughter while watching this video I did glean a few things from Lindell's reactions during the zoom call.
Having been dropped by multiple retailers he is so desperate to find new ones that he quibbles about potentially having to delay the meeting for a mere 24 hours. By the end though, he's happy to do it.

He was unprepared for the call (if it had been a genuine meeting.)

It surprises me that Harry wore a Dior suit because it looked to me like it's been poorly tailored for him. There are hundreds of valid critiques to be made of these two from just this NYC trip, but I find his almost disheveled appearance to be very telling.
There are plenty of public domain video clips and photos of both Harry and Meghan over the past few days.

I don't need to justify my opinions about them to anyone. If you want to defend their track record over the past 6 years, go ahead. But don't expect me to agree with you.
For the Sussexes of Montecito, everything changed on July 3, 2022 as they ascended then descended the steps of St Paul's Cathedral in London.

Royal watchers have dissected every part of their attendance at HM the Queen's jubilee service of thanksgiving that day...

Like anyone diagnosed with a severe PD, #AmberHeardDeservesJustice in the form of accessing effective medical care, asap.

The nature of her PD is that she lacks insight into her need for care.

Those who love her should enable it. She deserves that basic kindness from them.
People diagnosed with a PD like Amber's and who have her considerable access to resources, can access expert, high quality therapeutic services in a safe and private environment in the US. PD lack of insight requires short term limiting of a patient's right to informed consent.
The professional expectation and the loved ones' hope is that such patients would, over time, gain at least some insight into the diagnosis and the consequent need for secure care. Such care can reduce the damage the patient can do to their own interests, at least temporarily.

🧵I've been living and breathing (international) politics for 40+ years.

My values reflect the centrist liberal democratic environment "we" generally had until the last decade or so.

The spread of RW extremism has forced me to look further back in history, to 1939-45 and
... now I look even further back, to the American Civil War of the 1860s, and then beyond the 18th and 19th centuries in both Europe and North America.

The Age of Enlightenment used to be a purely historical subject for me. Yet some in power rn don't value it at all.
I'm talking about the RW extremists in both the US and the UK.

Clearly, RW extremists aka fascists aka white supremacists are the ones pulling the strings of "conservative" politicians in those countries, and

subject to my research time, probably in other countries, too.

Thread: What caused the death of Ivana Trump on July 14, 2022?

Some new info was just released by the local medical examiner about injuries consistent with an accidental fall down the stairs.

IMO, more investigation will be needed.
I need to be very clear: I am NOT making any claims about factors that may or may not be involved in her death. I really detest such behavior, especially this soon after the event.

Just saying, investigating the death of a high profile person requires keeping an open mind.
We don't yet know what evidence the medical examiner has. As a hypothetical example, if there is CCTV footage, that would be valuable. A fall can be caused by many things. Finding injuries consistent with a fall is just one part of the potential evidence field.
