One person was killed and nine were injured in explosions at the airfield of the #Crimean village of #Novofedorovka

The explosions thundered on Tuesday afternoon. Local residents report that they heard at least 12 explosions, in which ten people were injured. /1
One of the victims died on the spot. The rest were hospitalized with injuries. Two children are among the injured.

There is no information that the airfield was shelled yet. The Russian and Ukrainian sides have spoken about "non-compliance with fire safety rules." /2
President of Ukraine Volodymyr #Zelenskyy, speaking on the evening of the same day, said that "this war began with Crimea and must end with Crimea."

CONTINUED: The senior Ukrainian official, Mikhail Podolyak, suggested a the explosions could have been the work of partisan saboteurs.
Margarita Simonyan, the editor-in-chief of the Russia Today outlet, hinted in a tweet that the explosions were caused by sabotage. She, however, later said the explosion was caused by “several munitions” detonating in storage.
PREVIOUS TWEET CONTINUED: An anonymous Ukrainian official told the New York Times that “an exclusively Ukrainian manufactured device was used” on the base in Crimea.
The official may be referring to the Ukrainian “Neptune”.

European Union has discontinued buying Russian coal. Amongst the countries replacing the former’s coal is #Kazakhstan
According to Eurostat, Kazakhstan supplied 1.5 million tons of coal to the #EU countries from January to May, which is almost twice as much as in the whole of 2021.
