Undoubtedly he is the best F1 driver in history, but it's his actions off the circuit that also make him a legend. A brief overview from us highlighting some key aspects of racism encountered by @LewisHamilton and his valiant and commendable response: 1/
Nelson Piquet’s [retired Brazilian F1 driver] racial slur [the N word] is probably the most recent and prominent incident, here is what Lewis had to say on this: 2/
However, it was the ‘Black facing’ incident by ‘F1 fans’ in 2008 which still haunts him to this very day! Due to Formula 1 having a serious problem with lack of diversity, he said: “I remember the pain I felt that day, but I didn’t say anything about it. I DIDN’T HAVE ANYONE.” 3/
As with almost all Black people in UK, racism is endured from a very young age. It started at age 5 for Lewis. Here, he talks about the racism from his younger days & how the death of George Floyd impacted him in this UNMISSABLE 2 part video titled ‘GAME CHANGER’ by GQ:[PT 1:2]4/
WE URGE EVERYONE TO TAKE HEED, ESPECIALLY THE MEDIA:
TAKING THE KNEE - “THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL STATEMENT! IT’S A HUMAN RIGHTS ISSUE!”
JUST THE SMALLEST OF CHANGES CAN MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE!
[PT 2:2]5/
As advised by his dad, @LewisHamilton definitely does his talking on the track. Here is a clip of him paying tribute to the late legendary actor Chadwick Boseman [May he Rest In Peace & Rest In Power]: 6/
“THERE HAS BEEN PLENTY OF TIME TO LEARN. TIME HAS COME FOR ACTION.”
So, in addition to helping promote the #BlackLivesMatter movement and the gesture of TAKING THE KNEE, did you know this?: 7/
Considering everything he is doing, it goes without saying he is very inspirational and deserves plenty of admiration, and even more so as this is what he had to say on ‘how he wants to be remembered’: 8/

The news broke this week that the Metropolitan police have form for strip-searching children... especially young Black boys, who made up a statistically significant proportion of the 650 searched!!! 1/ independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-n…
Mere months after the appalling Child Q scandal, the Met stand accused of racist, vilely persecutory practices as a matter of course - averaging 12.5 children strip searched PER WEEK!
In fact this January, Priti Patel announced her vehement opposal to child sex abusers, claiming to find it a "sickening crime" however, in spite of pleas by Hackney Council for action, 3/ news.hackney.gov.uk/time-for-actio…
AUTOCRACY AND THE STRATEGY OF PERPETUAL GOVERNANCE
A sneaky way for those in power to stay in power whilst appearing to operate within the structures of democracy.
Have those structures have been deliberately undermined to ensure democracy is merely a performance?
1/9
When governments get hold of political weapons, they ensure the balance of power remains tilted in their favour.
These weapons may seem innocuous - media control, access to private info, a shield of money and influence amongst the elite - 2/9 theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
they are anything but.
With these weapons, organisers can be discredited, rapidly found and neutralised. Protesters make a fuss that goes nowhere. Traditional actions of dissent don't make a dent in the capacity of the ruling class to retain power. 3/8 theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
@georgemonbiot highlights the worrisome trend in government chicanery, telling us oppressive legislation like the #PCSC Bill will improve and help our nation. 1/5
Further explored is the fact democracies across the world are suppressing the right to peaceful protest - the UK included - thus eroding the mechanisms of democracy. 2/5
You cannot HAVE democracy without the right for people to oppose the ruling class: once those rights are gone, it's a dictatorship. 3/5
We’ve referenced Priti Patel’s endorsement of the RSS/HSS/Hindutva (Nazi) ideology many times. This has led us to question whether it’s her extremist nature which compels her to embrace Paul Kagame the dictator and

ignore all the warnings of Rwanda not being a safe option for asylum seekers. Just yesterday, a Parliamentary committee raised ‘fundamental concerns’ over compliance with international law and urged her to reconsider this policy. 2/
Even the US have recognised the Human Rights violations, political assassinations at home and abroad, they’re on the verge of stopping aid. Just a reminder, we are still discussing Rwanda and not Putin’s Russia. 3/
All the Tory candidates still believe Britain can dump people into another country thousands of miles away. The squatter in 10 Downing Street was at least hoping the policy was politically right...
2/ The UK is a beacon of “openness and generosity” – Boris Johnson in April, a bit rich as this couldn’t be any more contradictory whilst vehemently implementing the #Rwanda policy which was controversial from word go... and now:

And the Turkish government shot down her idea within hours of it being floated.
Considering Turkey already has the largest refugee population in the world. The Turkish government responded swiftly: ft.com/content/36678b…
The way Britain treats refugees and asylum seekers is part of the #HostileEnvironment, that led to the #NationalityAndBordersAct. We are pleased to support action to mitigate against it.

We want to see the success of this campaign and all others that aim to challenge the deliberate cruelty of the #HostileEnvironment and are proud to work with and alongside organisations and individuals who make this their goal. 2/6 care4calais.org/stop-rwanda/#h…
The #HostileEnvironment consists of a set of policies and laws made to make it unbearable for some people to live in Britain. Originally intended to deter 'illegal immigrants', the plans backfired, throwing all non-White people into harm's way. 3/6 refugee-action.org.uk/a-decade-of-ho…
