Reminder the US military poisoned our Hawaiian water supply, still hasn't cleaned the jet fuel in our aquifer or shut down it's tanks, which are continuously leaking.

The University of Hawaii did a study finding US military jet fuel is still in our water supply, still poisoning us Hawaiians, and then the University's site was suddenly taken down. Children are being poisoned at 7 schools by this water right now.

Since the US banned our Hawaiian language, it nearly went extinct. Less than 100 kids spoke it in the 80's. Kids are STILL punished for speaking Hawaiian today. The fact we've 30,000+ Hawaiian speakers now is testament to our struggle to preserve our culture from eradication.

We indigenous peoples of Hawaii, Taiwan, New Zealand, all the way to Madagascar share common origin, language & master wayfinding (Ho'okele). Nearly wiped out during Western colonization, my Hawaiian language & culture was banned by the US, & the the Dutch subjugated Taiwan.

The Dutch brutally massacred both the indigenous & Han Chinese in Taiwan, & referred to the Chinese oppressed labor as 'worker bees, producing their honey.' In Hawaii, similar white-oligarch run sugar plantations exploited Hawaiian & Asian 'coolies' for capitalist profit.

Taiwan & Hawaii share history of Colonial occupation, ghettoization of the native people, as rich Westerners enjoyed 'paradise', & gas stations to plunder Asia. MacArthur called Taiwan an 'unsinkable aircraft carrier' McKinley said, 'We need Hawaii to get our share of China'

For Native Hawai'ians, 'Aina is that which feeds & sustains, whereas Western concepts like 'property' denote something bought and sold for profit. Like Native American ways, our ahupua'a system provided all the nutrients needed and maintained a pristine environment for millennia

As a native Hawaiian, land back is not about changing ownership of land but ending ownership of land ('aina), and people. 'Aina is your mother. You can't own your mother. You mutually cooperate with your relatives, or you end. Broken colonial-capitalism is learning the hard way.

As an Native Hawaiian, Shinzo Abe's politics, including suppression of indigenous Ainu & Okinawan peoples & denial of Japan's genocides was unacceptable. Sovereign Hawaii had full citizenship & equality for all races, and was / is majority Asian + Pacific Islander.

After the US invasion, ban on Hawaiian language and culture, the situation for all races in Hawaii fell. Asian workers in the 1900s staged labor strikes to improve their pay & work conditions. Our US-coup'ed Hawaiian leader, Liliuokalani, supported the struggles of the workers.

The sovereign country of also Hawaii had Black citizens before the US Civil War. In fact, US slaves that stepped onto Hawaiian soil were considered free. Asians were full citizens in Hawaii as US chained them up to build railroads & West Coast, & were lynched at whim by whites.

As Elliot Page controversy stirs, remember trans, non-binary and gender-fluid people are accepted in Hawaiian culture (i.e. mahu), & play vital roles in our resistance against colonization & US genocide of Hawaiians. Binary gender is a Western, imperial concept, forced on us.

I often alter my own presentation. I'm in support of LGBTQ+ rights generally, but this is also about self-decolonization & reclamation of gender-fluid Hawaiian culture that was stolen from me. Hawaiian language was banned by the US, when I was born.

The US banned Hawaiian language, poisos our water, devastated our universal healthcare, overthrew our country, & illegally occupies Hawaii to this day. My mother's hands were broken for speaking Hawaiian in school. The US is not a beacon, but the destroyer of independence. #July4

The US military poisoned our Hawaiian water supply, still hasn't cleaned the jet fuel in our aquifer or shut down it's tanks, and all of Oahu's water supply could soon become unusable due to petroleum & salt contamination.

The US military won't acknowledge or clean its catastrophic gas spill in Hawaii, because the US is illegally occupying Hawaii as a platform to plunder China, bomb Vietnam, Korea, Afghanistan. The US own troops and Hawaiian 'natives' are expendable pawns.
