Gillian Philip said “I had no trust whatsoever in the society and thought it more likely to condemn me than my publisher or the mob who got me fired."
Rachel Rooney said the @Soc_of_Authors “didn’t do anything to help me” and added: “The Society of Authors really needs to draw up some new guidelines for online behaviour.”
Rachel Rooney endured a campaign of harassment that led her to abandon her writing career. #MyBodyIsMe was described as 'terrorist propaganda.'

Stonewall's statement after today's judgment is very revealing.
1. It admits to "going above and beyond the legal minimum" for one group. But Public Sector Equality Duty means having "due regard" for ALL protected groups.

2. "Our Diversity Champions programme supports employers to make their workplaces inclusive and supportive of LGBTQ+ employees."
'LGBTQ+' is not a protected characteristic under the Equality Act but employers are advised to be inclusive of an undefined 'Q+' group of people.
Likewise they extend the ban on conversion practices to protect "all LGBTQ+ people." What does this mean? Who does this group include? The proposed government ban on conversion practices never included 'Q+' people.

In September 2018 we wrote to the Government Equalities Office to ask how we could assist in any way in this inquiry.

We received the following reply:
