So who else besides Liz Truss is explicitly against diversity & inclusion? πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ˜¬πŸ™‹πŸ™‹

Not forgetting...
And of course...

Liz Truss has been accused of making β€œludicrous” claims as she 'vows to ditch civil service diversity jobs in Β£11 billion tax saving'.

What Truss & the absurd right-wing press & "news" media fail to mention is that the entire annual civil service pay bill is only around Β£9bn.

this research discusses Jordan Peterson's misreadings & misrepresentation of β€˜postmodernism’, analyse the non-verbal aspects of his performance & his affective strategies, & apply relevance theory & 'the guru effect' to examine his rhetorical strategies.

tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…
In order to understand why Peterson appeals to so many today, researchers analysed his public image, rhetoric, & the strategies he uses to inspire trust in his audience. What makes the Peterson 'hype', is not attributable to one single factor.
Factors include a context of epistemic uncertainty & polarisation; a public of disenfranchised young men in need of a father figure; Peterson’s media literacy & visibility in online culture, aided by algorithms; & vague obscure writings that lend the author the aura of the guru.

This #THREAD comprises a keynote address (later published in the linked edited collection below) by @NancyMacLean5, about her brilliant & terrifying 2017 book, 'Democracy in Chains: The Deep History of the Radical Right’s Stealth Plan for America'.

It's a #thread about the unimaginable wealth & power of revolutionary capitalists. The overall Koch project of social & political transformation is so radically new in human history in its scope, audacity, & strategic sophistication that the social sciences lack a concept for it.
The Koch donor network funds an infrastructure of hundreds of organizations, including dozens of ostensibly separate national bodies eg Cato Institute, Heritage Foundation, American Legislative Exchange Council, Heartland Institute, & Federalist Society.

After 12 shit years of Tory misrule, according to these toxic, divisive, Britain-hating extremists, the parlous state of our divided broken country, the #CostOfLivingCrisis, our collapsing public services & decaying environment is the fault of Unions, experts, lawyers & the woke. Image

"Grassroots" my arse.

#Astroturfing is the practice of masking the sponsors of a message or organization (eg political, advertising, religious or public relations) to make it appear as though it originates from & is supported by grassroots participants, when it is anything but.

#THREAD about Jacob Rees-Mogg appointing Tory Lord Francis Maude to run an "independent (lol) review recommending ways to make Govt more efficient", which is likely to hand more of the civil service to consultants & businessmen on temporary contracts.

Credit: @PrivateEyeNews πŸ™
"There is nothing independent here. Not only is Francis Maude a former Tory Cabinet minister, but since leaving government he has run Francis Maude Associates (FMA) which he co-owns with Baroness Finn, the PM's deputy chief of staff since February 2021."

theguardian.com/politics/2021/…
"Through FMA, Maude offers advice on "reform" to autocratic clients such as Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain and Kazakhstan. No doubt this is what he meant when he said two weeks ago that his Whitehall review will "draw on lessons from other governments"."

"There is no pause in Royal Air Force recruitment & no new policy with regards to meeting in-year recruitment requirements." - RAF.

Head of the armed forces, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, used his first public speech to stress the importance of striving for better diversity.
In 2016 there were around 13,000 Army officers, but only 160 were Asian or Black. Of 7,000 Royal Navy officers, 20 were black or Asian. RAF, just 75. In 2018, just 6.5% of the total intake into the Armed Forces for the previous 12 months were black, Asian or minority ethnic.
