3/9 A lot of articles have been written in the US about how private Christian academies are funded by sympathetic right-wing governments through "vouchers" - essentially a government cheque handed to parents to provide a subsidy for private school. #skpoli mic.com/articles/18939…
4/9 It's similar in #SKpoli, except the Sask Party government quietly changed the rules to send government funding *directly* to the private schools (ie. worse than a "school voucher" program). The voucher isn't a sufficient subsidy for poorer families to afford private school. 
5/9 It amounts to giving a tax break to higher-income families who send their kids to private schools, creating a two-tiered system that pulls funding from public schools, leading to class-based (& racialized) segregation. The @ACLU has sued & won. #skpoli aclu.org/issues/racial-…
