@TableTopBill and @Pendolino70S so some quick research into #warhammer40000 and woo doggy... To start the biggest differences between #battletech and 40K is the sheer amount of hand-wavium 40K needs. It is far more fantasy than sci-fi. Psychics, aliens, magic it has it all.
BT on the other hand is very human focused, there are no aliens that threaten humanity and the only semi-intelligent life forms found are 2 species of caveman like humanoid "pinkies" and a bird like primitive society that can only be reached accidentally by misjump with no way
back to human space. The factions of the Inner Sphere are thus not divided between species, but between vast star spanning empires. Although admittedly biased, I prefer BT because there is so much less hand-wavium. You can trace Humanities journey to the stars directly back to
Western Alliance that would become the Terran Hegemony and the early colonization efforts that would grow into the great houses of #Davion, #Kurita, #Stiener, #Liao and #Marik plus another couple dozen other factions. The hand wavium is there of course, FTL travel requires it, as
does certain "it just is" rules to make the game playable on a tabletop. In terms of tech, (not counting magic chaos etc) they are not that far apart so in a "head to head" using only sci-fi kit fight I think most BT factions would curb stomp the 40K foe. 40K has titans, but
although larger are slower and don't add much in the way of firepower or armor over a battle mech. The big difference is BT armies deploy them in clusters and regiments not 1's or 2's. The one area where BT has a numerical advantage over 40K is mecha. There may be more than a
quarter million battle mechs running around. But while mecha is the focus of BT, in 40K the focus is the space marine. Here again there is an analog. The Clan Elemental is a genetically modified super soldier, raised invitro, trained from childhood to be a spartan and growing
up to be a 9' tall bad ass who runs around in powered armor with lasers, machine guns, missiles and a battle claw able to crush battlemech armor. There are more vastly more space marines than elementals but they are rough analogs as to type and mission. In combat I would rate the
elementals higher. Yes, the longest-lived space marines would have more skill, but the average space marine will spend so much of his time on the more religious side of his career that the singularly focused Elemental has more practical combat experience on average.
Both factions have a massive body of fiction to support them and active miniatures communities, video games etc. Although BT's foundational ethos that anything can be anything as long as both sides agree is a huge advantage. I can legally use bottle caps and peanuts as
representations of whatever unit I want. So while some like me have hundreds of minis, it does not require a second mortgage to play. Besides peanuts we can also use 3D printed minis, minis from other franchises etc. Its a much cheaper hobby to get into. Adding to the cost
value is the fact that a rule book from 1985 is still 99% valid in 2022. Things get added and occasionally tweaked but the basic mechanics have not changed. Instead of Rules revisions as a mechanism to drive sales, BT uses tech creep. As technology advances and manufacturers add
new models, the natural drive is to buy more stuff.... but... you don't have to. This open acceptance of less than licensed minis and a stable rules set is oen reasons BT has seen such an inflow of new players fleeing the Imperium of Man and looking for a new game that isn't so
stick in the butt about things. I hope you both enjoyed this quick essay.

So the FSB tried to assassinate Alexandr Dugin as both a way to nip off loose ends that were driving a unproductive narrative and help shore up domestic support. When Darya Dugina found out she went all to pieces.... Mood change like a bomb going off....
All joking aside, I am convinced that Dugin was the target and the forces behind the attack were #Pedoputin directed. The only real proof I have is the FSB is now claiming that a Ukrainian with AZOV affinities WHO WAS LIVING IN MOSCOW did it. They announced this within minutes of
revealing that Dugina had two blew eyes (this way and that way). 1. So a known Ukrainian far right extremist supposedly motivated by nationalism was living in Moscow for months as you murdered and raped your away across his homeland. 2. You knew who and where he was and left
Imagine if you would a US politician coming out and saying, "No mercy for X population"! The internet would melt down, there would be boycotts, investigations, demands for resignations, marches... twitter bans...
Anyone think that will happen here? Of course not. Twitter can ban Trump but not Russian, Chinese or Iranian politicians and diplomats. The only recourse Ukraine will have is too soundly beat Russia and liberate her territory and people. That requires people like us dedicated to
contacting people like @JohnBoozman@SenTomCotton and @RepFrenchHill and telling them to continue to support @POTUS as he sends arms to Ukraine. In fact, Amb U's tweet was in response to a message about such aid is my case in point. Western aid is wrecking Russian military might
So yesterday was a really bad day for Russia. The number of smoking accidents hit a new high and Roscosmos is rapidly becoming the biggest employer of Russian veterans, though admittedly it's just piece work, a piece over here, some pieces over there, a bunch of pieces way up
there... Russian depots, command centers and airfields are all about to be added to the #ICUN Redlist. I jest, sorry to the World Conservation Congress you guys are fighting the hard fight to save animal life and your red list is an invaluable tool. I can only imagine the horror
show being unleashed on the natural areas of Ukraine right now. Speaking of horrors... Video proof that Russia is using Zaporizhzhya NPP as a depot/hostage to protect assets from Ukrainian strikes.
Yay, internet issues. I get to write an essay with my thumb. So this may be a bit shorter than usual. Once again my home state of #Arkansas is doing good by #Ukraine. Last night more Russian stuff joined the growing collection of space junk that Roscosmos will claim as high tech
Military satellites. Never mind the bits of burned orc that burned up not in... #HIMARs may go down as one of the few game changers that actually changed the game. It obviously has the Russians spooked. To keep word from getting out Russia sealing off Crimes, and of course
Posting the obligatory videos that show it wasn't actually missiles provided through an aid package @JohnBoozman@SenTomCotton@RepFrenchHill all voted for. Nope instead of lend lease and Ukrainian skill at arms it's a bunch of brown skinned ethnic minorities. Where have we seen
In what has to be one of history's greatest examples of missing the forest for the trees, Russians have been protesting outside the US embassy in Moscow complaining that US weapons are wounding and maiming Russians.
The fact that the Russians have to be in Ukraine to be killed and maimed seems to have been completely missed. Though in truth it's just another example of Russian imperial/colonialism as a mindset that has filtered down to the lowest levels of society. They presume the
right to act as they see fit anywhere they can because only nations able to act where and how they want are truly sovereign and all others are either prizes to be won or vassals to be defended from other sovereign states. I would not at all be surprised if Russian maps only
So we are now 172 days into a #GenocideOfUkrainians What keeps you going and dedicated, what do you do to recharge, what spirit animates you? What is something on your bucket list? Four really complex questions I will try to answer about myself. First, I made a promise to use my
ability to write to tag my leaders @JohnBoozman@SenTomCotton@RepFrenchHill every day to let them know I want them to support Ukraine. It is my biggest gift to Ukraine. At this point I think I have written more articles on the war than any journalist outside of Ukraine. It is
an admittedly weird record I never saw myself achieving. At this point though it's pretty self-sustaining. I spend time on twitter listening to different voices, often listening on @MriyaReport to find inspiration for the next day's essay. Which brings up question number
