🧵 It’s #WomensEqualityDay, marking 102 years since the 19th amendment guaranteed a woman's right to vote. Women of all creeds protested for decades to earn this right, but many women of color continued to be barred from the ballot box for years after the 19th’s ratification.

Almost two months to the day after the Supreme Court lit 49 years of precedent on fire, it’s impossible to mark #WomensEqualityDay without recognizing the dire realities of Republicans’ post-Roe world.

In red states across the country, Republican lawmakers are inflicting stricter and stricter legislation criminalizing abortion and ripping away not only women’s bodily autonomy, but their economic independence.

For the GOP, it’s not about being “pro-life”– because “pro-life” would mean that Republicans support health care for women and children, increased SNAP funding to feed America’s kids, and gun reform to keep our students safe and protect parents’ peace of mind.

The split screen is clear as day: House Democrats are advancing legislation to defend women’s hard-won rights. Republicans are coming after fundamental American ideals like freedom and equality.

Here’s what we know: 100+ years after earning the right to vote and 60+ days after losing the right to choose, women are registering to vote in record numbers. They’re showing up in specials to stop extremist Republicans, and they’re refusing to be dragged backward.

There is so much on the line. We are less than 75 days out, folks. Let's do this.
