#INSVikrant @indiannavy The first Made In India aircraft carrier will be formally commissioned today after completing almost a year of sea trials. The 45,000 tonne warship has been built at a cost of ₹20,000 crore.

#INSVikrant has a top speed of around 28 knots and a cruising speed of 18 knots & it is 262 metres long, 62 metres wide and it has a height of 59 metres. Its construction began in 2009 at @cslcochin.

The motto of #INSVikrant is जयेम सं युधिस्पृध: which means "I defeat those who fight against me". With a length of 262m (860 ft), Beam
62m (203 ft), Height 59m (194 ft), Draught 8.4m (28 ft), Depth 25.6m (84 ft) & with 14 Decks onboard…With total of 18 floors onboard.

The Installed power is powered by 4 General Electric LM2500+ gas turbine, 2 Renk COGAG gearbox & a 2 Shaft Propulsion with a Range of 8,000 nautical miles thats 15,000 km.

The Sensors &
processing systems consists of Elta EL/M-2248 MF-STAR AESA multifunction radar along with Selex RAN-40L 3D L-Band Air Surveillance Radar as well. The Electronic warfare
& decoys consists of DRDO Shakti EW suite as well.

The armament 32 cell VLS Barak 8 SAM with a Range of 0.5 km to 100 km along with 4 Otobreda 76 mm (3 in) dual purpose cannons & 4 AK-630 CIWS…#INSVikrant also has the capacity to carry over 30+ fighter aircrafts the aviation facilities with 110,000 sq ft flight deck.

#INSVikrant also has been built using indigenous equipment and machinery supplied by India's major industrial houses as well as over 100 MSMEs promoting #MakeInIndia & #AatmaNirbharBharat in mind…

PM @narendramodi will commission INS Vikrant at the @cslcochin . During the event, PM Modi will also unveil the new @indiannavy Naval Ensign doing away with the colonial past as well.

Also #INSVikrant produces 88 MW power and features 2300 compartments designed for a crew of around 1700 people. The foundation for #IACVikrant was established back by in April 2005 by ceremonial Steel Cutting.

#INSVikrant also has specialised cabins to accommodate women officers and sailors as well. Now with the construction of #IACVikrant.

India has joined a select elite group of nations such as the USA, UK, Russia, China & France of having the niche capability to indigenously design and build an advanced aircraft carrier.
