The big pro with this one is we can field a strong MD1 team without having to plan for MD2 etc.
WC3 is very powerful as well as MD3+4 consists of the same (very easy in some cases) set of fixtures.
WC3 seems especially good for the teams here, who have a good run from MD3-MD6. Triple Real, Trent, Salah, Haaland, Spurs, PSG fwd... all could do the trick here.
What I don't fully like is the set of MD2 fixtures.
However with Milan - Zagreb, Chelsea - Salzburg, Real - Leipzig and PSG at Haifa it's probably enough to justify the LWC here 🤔
2. Building a squad for MD1+MD2, WC3, LWC5 or 6.
For this strategy we have to pick players from teams with a set of good opening fixtures, and there are plenty of teams to choose from. Milan and Chelsea really stand out here, Spurs and Real are great as well.
The caveat here is we have to keep getting players with a tough fixture in either MD1 or 2 at a minimum, making it difficult to include too many Barcelona players v Plzen for example.
Also, the question here is "does LW5 look better than LWC2 above?!" I don't really think so 😅
Let's try LWC6 instead... thoughts?
I think it acutally looks slightly better (beside no PSG) than LWC5 above, but keep in mind the line-up and rotation lottery MD6 can be. At least Milan, Chelsea and Real have all great looking fixtures here.
3. WC2, LWC3 (or 5, or 6)
This one is a bit... different...
As we have seen in the 1st picture there are a lot of teams with a nice run from MD3-MD6, but let's check how it looks from 2-6.
As you can see, pretty much the same top teams have a good run from 2 to 6 as well.
As in the 1st strategy we can pick a good MD1 here, and we have also the bonus of an incredible looking LWC3. Liverpool v Rangers, Bayern v Plzen, Real v Donetsk, City v Copenhagen, Juve v Haifa...
The problem here though is to navigate from MD2 to MD6 without another wildcard, making transfer pretty important should injuries mount up (and they will 😅)
So maybe the risk and the good looking LWC3 doesn't outweight the more common LWC2 approach.
Which one are you going for?
Maybe even a completely different strategy I haven't even mentioned?
🇪🇬 Salah €11.0m - Tricky to afford with all the pricey picks up front, but a kind group for the #FPL legend.
🇨🇴 Diaz €9.0m - The cheaper alternative, but more rotation risk once Jota is back.
Let's now have a look at the most promising #UCLFantasy...
🛡 Defenders
🏴 TAA €6.5m - Already a #FPL legend, he comes in at a premium price. Even though Liverpool look leaky atm, his attacking potential may well be worth it once again.
🇵🇹 Cancelo €6.5m - An away trip to Sevilla may not be an ideal start, but the City defence is quite likely to deliver again. He also was the top scoring defender of the past #UCLFantasy season.
🇳🇱 Ake €4.5m (rotation) or 🏴 Walker €5.5m could offer cheaper alternatives here.
🏴 Tavernier €6.0m - Definitely a bit more pricey than expected for but the Rangers penalty taker got a huge amount of attacking returns over the last few seasons. #UCL may be a tougher task though.
🇭🇷 Perisic €6.0m - Goal, assist and CS potential v Marseille. Rotation risk?!
🇫🇷 Paris
Mbappe missed out v Lille through illness, but is likely to be available v Leipzig.
Messi got subbed at HT but should be fine as well.
Hakimi wasn't involved after recieving a RC 🟥 v Marseille the week before.
🇪🇸 Barcelona
F. de Jong, Pedri and Araujo are all injured 🚑
Pique & Agüero both got subbed and look unlikely to feature as well.
Fati missed out with knee problems.
🇪🇸 Villarreal
Foyth & G.Moreno were not involved this weekend (rest?!)
