1) I want to make sure everyone sees what is going on here. @breakingbrown and I discuss high level wealth news and the economic data. Then anchor the #ados lineal discussion. Go look at the recent tweets of others that chipped at our project. They don’t discuss any of it.
2) So what happens is they do not tweet on inflation. Or the FTC regulations on autos. Or really anything beyond hollering reparations with no anchoring or salacious BLACK celebrity gossip. Then you come back to our #ados project & anchor their fba or local reparation projects.
3) THIS WAS BUILT ON TOP OF HIGH LEVEL ACADEMIC DISCUSSION. DO NOT STRIP MINE THE DISCUSSION. —- “What We Get Wrong About Closing the Racial Wealth Gap” @tonetalks on @FortuneMagazine 2018 fortune.com/2018/04/16/rac…
This is for those struggling with #studentloanforgiveness because they don’t understand the data points. Only 16% of native born Blacks had a BA degree from this chart from some yrs back. If we focus on #ados it may drop well below 15%. With a chunk not qualifying due to default.
This program is targeted to galvanize the middle class of white voters. That’s not even hidden. — If you didn’t understand this and focused on one person that can get a little relief rather than the political and economic impact you’re missing the discussion.
You had 1 person try to push simulation data. You don’t have the scaling to do a simulation, nor a tweet with projections. Another said bc they target Pell Grants it’s about blacks? Beyond the raw number of grads above. Black pell grantees under $75k overrepresent in defaulted.
Did people think we were talking about reparations in the abstract? People sat on the sidelines rambling about xenophobia or it being unreasonable. 🤫🤷🏿♂️ Well the next step is it comes to you personally in form of being carved out without the #ados demand. thedailybeast.com/laid-off-hbo-m…
You can’t leave the heavy work of political undergirding in a lost moment to @breakingbrown & @tonetalks while you make HBO shows or help with the NBA to give people escape. Not without consequence. When your group is deemed invisible & is largely without wealth there is a cost.
Listen to what w'ere saying in 2019. We're saying they are courting the white middle class. These people across corporate America either said nothing, or in some cases worked against the specific #ADOS demand. Now they are making the argument in isolation.
People celebrated nominal student debt forgiveness with income caps that are far too low at $75 - $125k like Biden didn’t play a key role in why the loan crisis happened. “JOE BIDEN’S ROLE IN CREATING THE STUDENT DEBT CRISIS STRETCHES BACK TO THE 1970S” theintercept.com/2020/01/07/joe…
This is #ados… Anyone not making this case now win, lose, or draw doesn’t grasp the moment. @BreakingBrown@ADOSorg
America did not build itself for #ados Black Americans. That is why reparations is 1st. This program isn’t designed for Blk people 20 yrs out of school with debt like many #ados. It was designed to hand white America back dollars they use to pay off debt so they can buy homes.
This post doesn’t show an understanding of the economics. There are now 46 million Blacks in America. In addition this money given to whites will show up in the life of these other 45,500,000 Black people that receive nothing. This is a program stabilizing the white middle class.
Saying this and following with “more to do” is the great failure of Black politics. This is all that will be done for a very long time. This is how they used your political capital from voting. They created debt forgiveness that largely targets the upper echelon of white adults.
So in effect a white person earning $75k or less but that will inherit a million dollars will get student loans forgiven. But an #ados Black making $130k helping family gets 0. nytimes.com/2022/08/24/us/…
In addition this is likely scaled between $75k and $125k. Literally punishing people for making an amount that might be $30k more after taxes. Taking away substantial sums of the forgiveness.
Also 2021 taxes will kick a lot of people that reported increased income from coronavirus aid either off receiving forgiveness or higher on the income scale.
Many #ados Black Americans are politically quiet because they don’t grasp what this chart and this quote by economist Piketty mean for their life prospects and familial relationships. And what it says about the likely limited prospects for their children.
It means none of this matters because of your life’s immediate needs. And should beg the question why is it even on your twitter or in your conversation given the moment? #SerenaWilliams #memphisgrizzlies on Christmas #nba #beyonce #verzuz #nfl
🤫👀🤷🏿♂️ #ados This should be the main discussion in mature Black homes with full families to support. It is literally nonexistent as a talking point. With most everyone never even seeing the HUGE issue until watching this video.
