Correction starts with acknowledgment. Acknowledge that there's a special Islamist extremism problem within large portions of Muslim community. It's special because it's not just in the mainstream but Islamists+clergy also control the narratives & ideology within the community.
Other communities are vigilant when it comes to countering the extremists within their ranks and making sure that those elements stay on the fringes. Meanwhile in the Muslim community more than often the sane voices are kept on the fringes and choked out.
This is also true for the UK. Those who have suddenly woken up to the recent communal violence were sleeping when the problem of Islamist extremism was growing uncontrolled. The evidence was always there. Some people only pay attention when someone reacts to Islamist harassment.
