Thread 🧵

This was an appallingly ignorant exchange (I’ll post video of conversation at the end).

Tia attempts to back MTG into a corner on a totally made up meaning of “Christian nationalism” in an exceedingly ignorant way.

(1/x)
Christian Nationalism is not the same as “White Christian Nationalists” or “Fascism”. This is a meme by the left that has no basis in reality or political science.

A good read on Christian Nationalism by @russvought from @amrenewctr is found here: newsweek.com/there-anything…

This is a good talk on Christian Nationalism by @William_E_Wolfe:
(3/x)
But the main error (intentional or unintentional) made by @TIAreports is conflating Christian Nationalism with all sorts of other ideologies, many of them blatantly racist, ignorant, and/or evil. This is academically dishonest, it’s the worst form of reporting. #FakeNews

(4/x)
A nation is a group of people with a common culture occupying an area of land. People in America of different ethnicities largely belong to the same culture and thus the same nation.

Nationalism is identification with one's own nation and support for its interests.

(5/x)
Being a Nationalist and a Christian… a Christian Nationalist, is to believe that a culture should embrace judeo-Christian values and support one’s nation and its interests. This is a completely common sense cultural identifier for the vast majority of Americans.

(6/x)
Because the term “nationalist” has been used by other ideologies and political groups in the past in bad ways, doesn’t mean the underlying definition within the context or Christian Nationalism is somehow tainted or connected. It’s an illogical assertion.

(7/x)
Socialism has been used to kill tens of millions of people around the world, and yet the media gives a pass to anyone on the left who uses that term, allowing the rosiest definition to proceed without any de facto perceived attachment to the evils of Mao, Stalin, etc.

(8/x)
China may be one of the most racist cultures on earth currently, and yet anyone on the left who shows favoritism towards socialism is allowed to escape claims of being associated with racist ideologies. The media manufactures these narratives for political purposes.

(9/x)
For @TIAreports to suggest that being a “social” person means someone supports “socialism” (because words have definitions?) may be one of the dumbest comments a reporter has ever uttered.

(10/x)
Lastly, here is the full exchange. It’s interactions like this why most Americans don’t trust the media. Appalling. In a sane world this would be taught at journalism schools as a case study in what not to do.

(11/11)
P.S. supporting Christian Nationalism is not akin to supporting a theocracy, nor does it prescribe a state (in the political science sense I mean federal government here) religion requirement or test, nor does it infringe on the 1st amendment as properly read and understood.

Thread 🧵

The left is claiming that 87,000 IRS agents is a made up conspiracy theory. However, a Treasury report from 2021 laid out how $80 billion would be spent to expand the IRS.

15% annual growth in personnel from current 80,000 agents every year for 10 years. (1/x)
It says growth, meaning increase in size even factoring in attrition and retirements.

If we ignore compounding growth it’s still 120,000 new employees. (2/x)
The report also highlights the need for a significant influx of compliance and audit agents. The argument that Democrats are trying to make that these new hires will mostly NOT be compliance related is absurd. (3/x)

Many states have passed laws banning divisive concepts in an attempt to stop the praxis of CRT in k-12 schools.

However, materials relying on critical pedagogy are being provided by TX schools (other states too) to students, paid for by Texas taxpayers.

I have verified that several states that have banned various divisive concepts have public school access to @Newsela resources. For this thread I will demonstrate it with screenshots obtained from a parent from the portal account of their child in TX public schools. #txlege

As a refresher, here is the law passed by Texas. legiscan.com/TX/text/HB3979…
