Ranga Road in Chennai) during 1920s. At that time, my grandfather was living in Mylapore close to the Kapali Temple. My father was then a student of P.S. high school. My father used to recall that Dr. Rangachary used to take my grandpa in his Rolls Royce car to the government's
general hospital. Although my grandfather was an allopathic doctor, he was proficient in homeopathy too and saved many critically sick patients through homeopathy. In the years he lived in Mylapore, my grandfather had very little faith in religious rituals. He never performed
Pujas nor recited any stotrams or sahasranamams. After several years of working for the government hospital, my grandfather launched his own independent practice. He later moved to Aduthurai, being close to his native village. It was here that my grandfather turned his attention
to religion. When he was nearing fifty, he started learning Lalitha Sahasranamam. One day, he decided to visit Kanchipuram and seek Periva's blessings. With a book of Lalitha Sahasranamam in his hand, he made the trip and was waiting outside for Periva's darshan. A gentleman from
the matam came and asked him, "Neenga thane Aduthurai doctor? (Are you the doctor from Aduthurai?)" My grandfather was surprised since he had not told anybody about his visit. Later, he was led to see Periva. After some preliminary talk, my grandfather was fortunate to recite
Lalitha Sahasranamam before Periva. After listening to it, Periva had remarked, "Ucharippu ellaam sariya irukku. Ithaye shollindu irungo. Idu thaan ungalukku mukti. (The pronunciation is fine. Keep reciting this constantly. This is your salvation.)"

about this incident. Later, my grandfather followed Periva's advice. One day, just after reciting the Lalitha Sahasranamam, still in the sitting posture, my grandfather suddenly passed away. Though he himself was a doctor and never suffered from ill-health, he was blessed with
"Anaayasa Maranam" and attained mukti exactly as Periva said. My grandfather's final experience is 'untold' because he never lived to tell it.
