#hamradio #SARNET amateur radio operator at an EOC in Florida SARNET saying they have 50 shelters, but not enough radio operators to staff them. SARNET has not yet been formally activated, but expected soon. #HurricaneIan
#HurricaneIan radio operator (earlier) said he had booked a hotel (farther inland) to ride out the hurricane, but they cancelled his reservation (closing because of the hurricane)... so he is going to just sleep in his truck.
#HurricaneIan #SARNET a different radio operator commenting that the ground is already saturated from rainfall, which is going to be a problem with so much more rain forecast.
#hamradio #SARNET informal request for radio operators, apparently Hillsborough County has requested the state/local amateurs to help serve in Tampa to staff 50 shelters. Contact N1CDO or the Hillsborough EOC. #HurricaneIan
Correction, formal request made for #hamradio amateurs for staff EOCs, but there is a large shortage of radio amateurs across Florida to staff shelters.

If you left your rocket ship parked outside, you might be thinking about putting it back in the garage, I think.

Piotrowski saying if you are between Sarasota to Tampa, now is the time to make sure you understand what you are going to do if evacuations are ordered (he thinks likely very soon), if power is out for a week or two on the western coast of FL.
He's looking at this scenario -- storm surge Tampa/Ft. Myers.

Miami, Boca Raton looks clear of the wind, at least (will have rainfall impacts). Disney World, not so much. #Ian ImageImage
Florida's hurricane evacuation zones are based on elevation (which is crazy annoying for GIS/mapping folks, btw.) - here's Tampa floridadisaster.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappvie… Image
The general wedge of Florida that the hurricane seems to be wandering towards has lots of seashore exposure. floridadisaster.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappvie… Image
