A 🧵on why #NoToSelfID is important right now. On 27 October @scotgov will vote to reform the Gender Recognition Act #GRA If the vote goes through this removes the need for a medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria & people can self declare the gender they wish to live as /1

@scotgov and @ShonaRobison have told us that no man would declare himself to be something he isn't to access vulnerable women & children. We know this is not true. There are numerous examples where this had happened.

The #GRA reform will require people to live as their acquired gender for 3 months before applying for a #GRA this means you must self identify as your preferred gender. A man can self identify as a woman or a woman can self identify as a man.

This will enable predators to take advantage of women and children

⚠️any man can say he's a woman & enter a rape crisis centre

⚠️ any man can say he’s a woman & provide intimate care to vulnerable women & girls
⚠️any man can say he's a woman & provide intimate care to people with disabilities who can't consent
⚠️any boy can say he's a girl & use girls toilets

⚠️any boy can say he’s a girl & sleep in the same room as girls on residential outings
⚠️ any policeman can say he's a woman & intimately search female suspects
⚠️any man can say he's a woman & take a job that is for women only

⚠️any man can say he's a woman & accept an award for women only
⚠️any man can say he's a woman & be counted as a woman in official data
⚠️ any man can say he's a woman & if he commits a crime it is recorded as a woman's crime

⚠️any man can say he's a woman & serve his sentence in a female prison
⚠️any man who wants to be a politician can say he's a woman & join a woman only shortlist
⚠️any man can say he's a woman & change in women only changing rooms

⚠️ any man can say he's a woman and exercise or swim in women only sessions

Are you concerned about men in women's spaces? For example

❗️Your gran's intimate care might be provided by a man
❗️Your disabled daughter might have sanitary protection changed by a man
❗️Your neice might need to share a dormitory with a boy on a residential school outing

Then let your MSP know you don't want this by writing to them before the 27 October 22
