If you don't like Danielle Smith, instead of crossing your arms, holding your breath and turning blue, DO SOMETHING. Advocate. Write letters. Ask to meet with your MLA. Talk to others.
If you're a conservative, get involved with the party. When riding nominations come up, vote for the candidate that represents the type of conservatism you want to see prevail in Alberta. And for crying out loud, advocate for a candidate with more backbone than the current bunch!
If you lean toward the NDP, donate money if can afford it. Donate time if you can. Talk to your friends and family, and above all, VOTE. The NDP can win this province. Last time, they won due to PC/Wildrose vote splitting. This time, they can win because people want them in govt.
But holding your breath until you turn blue, which is what the #NoMyPremier hashtag is, is a waste of time. And worse still, it's proof that you're unserious about the democracy you live in.

Another weekend digging into Ghost Recon Wildlands, and I am reminded as to why I adore this game! I tried the GR Breakpoint 2nd campaign because I was finding Wildlands a bit boring the second time through, but ultimately came back because Breakpoint it just so broken...
... but once I really got into what initially thrilled me about GRW, I had a blast!
What I love about Ubisoft open world games is that you can jump in, not feel like playing through the story, but not feel that whatever you did was a waste. Everything matters.
"I feel like having an adrenaline rush," leads to targeting cartel supply convoys on the road, which often devolve into these crazy high-speed chases on winding cliffside roads.
"I feel like being slow and careful," means finding an infiltration mission or being the sniper.
Tamara Lich (who organized the convoy protest's fund raising) was in court for a bail hearing. Her husband also testified, and said that he and his wife's activities were protected by the First Amendment.
To be clear, I don't think either of these people actually thinks they're protected by the US Constitution. It's that they are uneducated in their own country's laws. The don't know that the protections they're referring to are found in Section 2 of the Charter.
They're like just about everyone else at this protest who has been interviewed either by real journalists or the propogandists at Rebel News, TrueNorth Centre, or Keean Bexte.
I finally got time to actually play a game on the new rig, which I ordered on 22 November and finally received on Monday evening.
As I promised myself, I started with @SatelliteReign, a wonderful successor to Syndicate. I've played it through a couple of times...
...but always on low detail. Now I can run it at full detail. Wow! The cyberpunk city is so vibrant and detailed, I enjoy just walking around.
Then I Ioaded up Forza Horizon 4, which I've been playing for a while, on medium settings. Now I'm running it at max settings, and it's even more beautiful than before.
Reminder: conservatives are hoping to reverse a century of progress. We came out of the Great Depression with the beginning of a social safety net and a middle class. Cons want us to come out of this crisis without any of that. They see this as an opportunity....
... and they don't care what damage it causes. In Ab, Kenney pushed through a budget based on fantasy, because he NEEDS those government jobs gone. He needs those people brought low and desperate. He needs education and healthcare privatized. It's what he's being paid to do.
It's also what modern conservatism needs. A well educated population sees through the lies of trickle down economics, and sees through the racism that conservatism uses to rile up its base. When you hear cons talk about how educators are "liberal" this is what they really mean.
Let me be upfront about this and say that Kenney is not likely to apologize. The wording was very specifically chosen, designed to appeal to two types of conservative voters.
Their reflexive dislike for anyone other than themselves means they have no sympathy for people suffering from addiction.
These are the guys fed a steady diet of Fox, The Sun, and in some cases, Ezra and other like-minded rw grifters and goons.
These are also the very same people who sneer at the poor, the unemployed, and really, anyone who is having a tough time. It all boils down to "you're not my problem" or "it's tough all over" or, all too often "if I'm suffering for something, you should also feel pain."
