There & then, the resident veterinary surgeon was called for help, and the ADC was asked to remain by the peacock till the arrival of the surgeon.
On examination, the vet found a cancerous tumour that had blanketed the bird's vision, leaving it acutely weak & dehydrated.

Surgery was done the next day; the peacock took to feeding, and the sight of its right eye was restored. A week later, a moved President Kalam released the bird back into nature.
