AI effectively automates the mundane and routine but not the exception, especially the exceptional exception. Latter requires the Consciousness of human beings.

today's AI is exactly like Rahul Gandhi. It appears to do a lot of things, makes opaque overseas trips, gets plenty of press, and is always the future choice that is ready to take over.

good AI would practically sell itself sans human hype.

the real threat and power is not DL/AI, which is overhyped, but actually the *non-AI* component (!), i.e., raw data+ people. Latter is deliberately underplayed and flies below the radar. Data granularity/nature/volume, and who control and eventually own it.

but to see this, one has to first realize that what matters more are the *decisions* made (that come with consequences) and not the frequency of good predictions (over-hyped).

any country showing off its "AI" prowess through patent/paper count, media reports, and demos must test it at-scale in the real world on their own people.

Today, there's only one person doing good automation at-scale for a billion+ people- Modi ji.

bean-counting a country's AI patents and papers (i know exactly what they're worth :) is great for image building.

The west probably produced the most research, models, "vaccines", on covid-19 but in reality, handled the pandemic with utter stupidity.

imho, a country's long-term 'power' is less about their tech, machines and algorithms, but more about the decision-making habits and abilities of their people- men, women (and children). #Consciousness #DecisionMaking #Uncertainty
