..winning another period in government at the next General Election. Given their current standing in the polls I could forgive anyone for thinking that this must be a forlorn hope on their part. They will suffer deserved annihilation and humiliation at the ballot box; we hope.

But the Conservative mindset mostly outside of government at the centre of the hive does not function on the principle of accepting honest defeat, they still think they can win!
They are determined and ruthless individuals at home in the boardroom of Global banks and businesses.

The temporary sacrifice of ideology is the hardest choice they must make. They know it is essential to reject & bury trussonomics in the deepest grave they can dig. 'Liz Truss yes a fine politician with the best interests of the country at heart, but her & Kwasi got it so wrong.

Not the right time, not the right response considering the global situation and how its hammering the economy, you know.'
And that is what they would have us believe; the existential threat to our society is a global phenomenon and not of their making. You and I know differently.

Global economic pressures contribute maybe 20% to the instability of the UKs economy; but the rest is home grown & lies right at the Tory door. We're an experiment gone badly wrong. From brexit to Boris & beyond. The country is well...shafted. At least they shafted themselves...

..in the process! Don't be deceived! The Tory elite Don't give up that easily. They wanted Rishi Sunak for PM as soon as Johnson was ejected from office. Truss and Kwarteng were an unwelcome aberration. A neoliberal glitch proliferating the economics of Hayek and Friedman.

They saw off the challenge of a resurgent Johnson, resurrected presumably by the brexit zealots to champion sovereignty and freedom; the the last thing they wanted. The Tory elite prefer Sunaks millionaire smile and the myth of a safe pair of hands to reassure the public.

You and I know the image they will build. It's already begun, hyped and pre-packed. Rishi, the first Asian to be PM of the UK. Trustworthy. Industrious. Clever. Dished out billions to businesses during the lockdowns. Cares. Yeah course he does.

He cared a lot when he wrote reports for Thatcherite think tanks about Free ports. Hung scores of thousands 'out to dry' unsupported during lockdown. Partied with Johnson with people unable to visit dying loved ones. His eat out to help out scheme contributed to covid infections.

He voted against the ban on fracking. He promised the tory membership he would take money from underprivileged areas and give it to wealthy ones. He is worth an estimated £700 million. His wife much more. So out of touch with all but the wealthiest of UK citizens.

The Tory elite will present him as a pin up boy, the acceptable face of conservatism. It's how they will reset the party. To regain popularity. With the help of client journalists and compliant media and creative spin.

The 'new' government will be hyped as the only one capable of restoring the countries fortunes after the 'mess created by Putin and Covid to the Global economy'. It will convince many with short memories to give their votes back to them. Well they must not be allowed to forget.

We cannot allow them to forget. Whether a GE is two months or two years away. We must keep reminding them. We must hold the tory government to account. We must hold Sunak to account.
