Four ships 🚢 were scheduled to travel to into Odesa area ports today through the humanitarian corridor but only three travelled. The Mavka is alongside at Chornomorsk, the Esentepe is underway to Yuzhnyy, and…
The Ocean Legend had a wild day! She started to Odesa but by 1300hrs local time had turned around, where she waited for the outbound ships and proceeded out of the corridor. Eventually she dropped anchor at Sulina, Romania. ⚓️
13 ships were meant to travel outbound but the SSI Challenger is still at the Odesa anchorage. The other 12 ships have transited through the humanitarian corridor and are now past Constanta, Romania and headed for the Bosphorus North Anchorage. ⚓️
These 12 ships carry 360,364MT of eight different grains going to nine different countries and include the @WFP ship Ikaria Angel carrying wheat for Ethiopia🇪🇹 #myprecious
46 inspections were completed today according to the JCC website. This is nearly 4X more than the largest days and truly a spectacular feat by the inspection teams. If they are able to continue at this rate they will clear the backlog of ships by the end of the week.🧐
After today’s movements there are 11 ships in Odesa area ports who do not have a current plan to transit out of the area.🚢⚓️
The Run Down ⬇️
Russia suspended the movement of ships along the grain corridor this afternoon at about the same time they were raising their concerns at a UN Security Council meeting. 🇺🇳 tass.ru/armiya-i-opk/1…
This is of course a great concern to the members of the security council, and even some of Russia’s closest friends urged them to return to the deal. 😠
And more importantly, caused the main insurer of the grain shipments to suspend coverage for new shipments, which will effectively halt new shipments.😩 reuters.com/business/insur…
For his part Zelensky said "We're ready to remain a guarantor of (global) food safety" and pledged to uphold Ukraine’s commitment to the grain deal. 🇺🇦🫡
78 loads and 2,209,311MT went to lower income countries according to the UN🇺🇳 categories.
Also, everyone welcome Morrocco🇲🇦 to the Black Sea Grain Initiative, 42 countries!
Three ships traveled out of Odesa area ports today through the humanitarian corridor. The Bomustafa O (22,800MT Wheat to Libya🇱🇾), the Nimet Torlak (12,690MT Sunflower Meal to Morrocco🇲🇦) and the SSI Challenger (49,000MT Corn to Germany🇩🇪).
The JCC has announced they do not plan any movements through the Humanitarian corridor on November 2nd. More importantly....
"The UN Secretariat reiterates that movements and inspections carried out after the Russian Federation suspended its participation in implementation activities at the Joint Coordination Centre is a temporary and extraordinary measure."
Meaning they don't intend to continue operating in this way for an extended time. I suspect this is another step in the cooling off period they are trying to give Putin.
The JCC advises that three ships have left Odesa area ports this morning headed for the Bosphorus North Anchorage, Bomustafa O, Nimet Torlak and SSI Challanger. 🚢
Ships already mid-trip will have active insurance for seven days to transit out of Ukraine if the JCC believed it was possible. And apparently they do, as the Ukrainian, Turkish and UN delegations have agreed and the Russian delegation has been notified.🚢
The JCC also advises that “The UN Coordinator for the Black Sea Grain Initiative Amir Abdulla continues his discussions with all three member state parties in an effort to resume full participation at the Joint Coordination Centre.”🇺🇳
Horus alongside in China carrying 53,012MT of Sunflower Meal and 9,694MT of Barley.
Tomahawk alongside China carrying 60,000MT of Sunflower Meal.
Queen Lila alongside in Libya carrying 29,000MT of Barley.
No ships travelled the humanitarian corridor today but seven ships are sitting at the Odesa Anchorage waiting to enter 31 October, IKARIA ANGEL (@WFP Ship to Ethiopia), SK FRIENDSHIP, SEALOCK, DESPINA V, AFRICAN ROBIN, ST SOFIA, NICHOLAS A.
What are the important notes? 1. The UN held meetings with all parties today. 2. In cooperation with Turkey and Ukraine the UN intends to allow ships into the Humanitarian Corridor on 31 October. 3. Also with cooperation from Turkey the UN intends to inspect ships on 31 October.
