1. The Road from Lucknow to Ayodhya is very good. Lakshman-ji indeed takes us to Sriram smoothly, in around 2.5 hours, without stress and strain.
Our driver scared us “Bearish ki vajah-se Rasta bahut bigaDh-gayaa hai”.
Exaggeration it was. Felt happy. Such high expectations.
+
2. Forget the road from Lucknow to Ayodhya, even the roads from Prayag and Kashi to Ayodhya are in good shape. Got a good peek into them.
The road from Lucknow was a smaller one which has expanded into a proper 2+2 lane road of good quality during Yogi-ji/Modi-ji.
+
3. Within the radius of 3-4 kms from the Temple, a good number of hotel/restaurant facility has sprung up in the last 4 years. At least one 4-Star Hotel.
The one I stayed, The Ramayana Hotel, was outstanding. If that quality sustains and more hotels spring up - that’s it.
+
4. That luxury is secondary. The real story is the emergence of Roads within the town of Ayodhya.
There are multiple ways in you can reach the temple area/Sarayoo Ghat. All of them are now well tarred. Others are well-tiled for walking.
All in last 5 years. Yogiji knows.
+
5. There is a mini revolution of E-Rickshaw in Ayodhya. They are available everywhere. A huge number people now have bought this or have been given. This is the best vehicle to move around in the inside of Ayodhya - can go from anywhere to anywhere.
Cars are to be avoided.
+
6. Considerable increase in cleanliness, although, there is a long way to go. Work in progress. Overall experience very good. Serenity experience isn’t harmed.
Many streets have seen an uplift. Some areas are still left. Faizabad area will take time.
Matter of few years.
+
7. Humungous increase in the Confidence Levels of People.
- haven’t forgotten the past. History passed on very well through stories and legends
- know the enormity of the place that they have been protecting
RamTemple rising one brick at a time - a matter of AtmavishvAs.
+
8. Roads from major cities to Ayodhya has significantly increased the number of Yatri-s into the City.
This has made a steady business possible for Taxi owners/drivers. My driver spent 3 years in Kerala, then in Dubai & has now returned .
Gets 1 trip to Lucknow per day.
+
9. People are very clear
- Previous governments anchored themselves on caste narratives/differences/faultlines
- Yogi-ji is the first government anchoring on the larger H identity.
- They have their version on who actually shot Karsevaks in 1990s that’s for another day.
+
10. There are many things that can be bettered. But the transformation within a short period is the consequence of a few things
- The Judicial Verdict
- Yogi-ji resolve
- The Yagna where Modi-ji sat as Yajaman
- The yearly celebration of Deepavali
+
This has energised the people of Ayodhya so much. They know there is a clear way forward. No more sense of Dejection, despair, hopelessness.
I still cant come to terms that the previous governments and UP elite of the past abandoned such a Civilizational city.
+
But then - the past is past. Let it serve as a constant warning but no more as a pull-back to our ability to act.
Once the airport is ready, Ayodhya will be another Kashi.
Jai Shriram and Har Har Mahadev will be chanted together.
+
Kashi, Ayodhya and Prayag will be a circuit. Fly to any one of the cities and return from any of them. The sheer dream.
There is much more to Ayodhya than just the access, but that itself is so much excitement.
The Sacred experience of Ayodhya is no more an idea. Its real.

The State appreciates Artha & Kama only.
- Highly places its own Artha
- Not aware of its own Kama
- Places Artha-Kama of the Society as subservient to its own
- Does not recognize Moksha (Daiva)
- Appreciates Dharma only as Law & Order
We were one people much before the word Hindu became a descriptor. The Puranas & Mahabharata present this unimpeachable reality. Vishnupurana (VP) does this most beautifully & succinctly.
Vishnupurana is a major Purana consisting of 7000 verses. Modern Historians date it between 400BC to 900AD. Even if you average it out, it is pre-Gupta.
It has 6 Amshas (large Parts). The first 3 Chapters of 2nd Amsha - are illuminating. Our Concern here is the 3rd Ch.
On the eve of #GandhiJayanti , I am settling into my own assessment of his contribution and importance.
This thread is a reflection of my own assessment based on what I have read about Gandhi - through his own writings and others.
Will begin with Positives & then Negatives.

1. His understanding of the Indian past. Among the few who had no inferiority about the Tradition.
- Actively defended the Kula-Jati-Varna aspect of the Society
- Held the Indian Kings in great esteem.
- Understand the functional mechanics of the society, spoke its language
+
2. His understanding of Modernity and its evil dimension.
Hind Swaraj is the most scathing criticism of Modernity ever. May not contain complex abstract nouns, models, theories, hypothesis.
But represents fundamental issues of Modernity in a way all can understand.
