Easy access to guns is deadly for women & families. While you hear most about mass shootings in public places like schools, churches or grocery stores, the fact is over half are domestic violence-related. Horrifically this weekend alone, two men shot and killed entire families 🧵
In Maryland, Sara Mann, her mother Sommaly, brother Kai, and acquaintance Javon Watson were shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend before he shot and killed himself. cnn.com/2022/11/05/us/…
In Florida, a man shot and killed his girlfriend, her sister, her 49-year-old mother, and a 4-year-old girl while two other small children hid for safety. wesh.com/article/orland…
Women in the US are 28 times more likely to be killed by guns than women in other peer nations and every month, an average of 70 women are shot and killed by an intimate partner, and many more are shot and wounded.
The impact of domestic violence goes far beyond the boundaries of the home and often devastates entire communities. Vote for gun safety on #ElectionDay, because lives are on the line — especially women’s and children’s. #votebluetomorrow#mondaymotivation

That’s a wrap! Eight weeks, 14 states (Oregon twice), over 20 cities, and so many gun sense candidates supported. @MomsDemand and I are leaving it all on the field this election. You should, too!
WTAF: Photos reveal that the NRA recently rallied with their candidates and THE PROUD BOYS in opposition to a commonsense gun safety ballot measure in Oregon. 🧵 #Measure114#orpol
Measure 114 is a commonsense measure that would require background checks on all gun sales and prohibit the sale of high capacity magazines that make mass shootings even deadlier. It will appear on Oregon voters’ ballots next week. voteyeson114.org
Unsurprisingly, while the majority of Oregonians and Americans support background checks, the gun lobby has come out against this measure, and has leaned into tired rhetoric – from fear mongering to pretending gun safety laws are unconstitutional – to try and dissuade voters.
This morning in Philadelphia, some Pennsylvania @MomsDemand leaders and I met with Marge LaRue and Meredith Elizalde - the grandmother and mother of Nick Elizalde, a 14-year-old student shot to death outside of Roxborough High School last month after a football scrimmage. 🧵
Meredith said she promised herself in the aftermath of her son’s death that she would not let the city or nation look away from what the unrelenting gun violence crisis has ripped from her - her only child. inquirer.com/news/philadelp…
Meredith - a teacher - ran up the hill when she heard gunfire during the football game. She found Nick on the ground with a gunshot wound to his chest. She held her son waiting for help, but because of traffic it arrived too late to save Nick’s life. inquirer.com/news/nicolas-e…
IOWA: Gun safety is LITERALLY on the ballot this November! If passed, Public Measure 1 would threaten to eliminate critical laws, including: prohibitions on gun possession by convicted felons and domestic abusers and minimum age, secure storage, and sensitive areas restrictions. twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Listen to Black Hawk County @SheriffTonyT who knows that Public Measure 1 IS NOT the same as the 2nd Amendment and would have dangerous consequences and threaten public safety. #IAlegis
You can’t be tough on crime if you’re weak on guns – take it from Iowa law enforcement leaders like Linn County Sheriff Gardner who knows that gun laws save lives and keep communities safe. #IAlegis
