On flying—by far, your highest period of risk for catching an airborne virus is when ✈️ is on ground power and when you are boarding/deplaning—#MaskUp. Once the airplane’s own HEPA-filter air cleaning system starts circulating when taxiing or midair, it is safer. Open air vents!
2) Additionally, while the air in mid-flight on a modern aircraft is "probably" OK, though it still won't deal with near field transmission from the unmasked person coughing next to you or one row from you—before the air exchange system can suck up that air for disinfection.
3) Also, I don’t say the it is safe without a mask. Airplanes have newer and older air circulation systems. And if you sit near a bulkhead row, the air circulation is poorer too according to some studies. Mixing is unpredictable. That’s why #Masking with N95 safest.
