Happening now: Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo to deliver speech at HC Democratic Party HQ after narrowly winning 2nd term. #Houston#HarrisCounty#Texas#Election2022
Commissioner Rodney Ellis is speaking, notes there will now be two women on the court with Lesley Briones win in Precinct 4.
Hidalgo says there were some in her own party who wouldn't fundraise for her or cut an ad with her and says she will remember who they are.
Calling out district attorney Kim Ogg for saying "stop the defunding." Says truth won over lies.
(Dispute has been over the stripping away of rollover funds from the DA's office and the constables' offices.)
Hidalgo refers to @MattressMack as a "furniture salesman," says the Houston Chronicle editorial board that endorsed Mealer represented "the establishment."
Hidalgo says elections should not be about pitting one group against another.
Says, "I and my staff...Alex Triantaphyllis and Wallis Nader," referring to two of her 3 staff under felony indictment.
Says, "whether you voted for me or not, I am proud to represent you."
Hidalgo says her donors were not developers, says she reads the occupations of her $1 and $5 donors too.
Hidalgo has been criticized for taking large campaign donations from attorneys with pending litigation against the county.
"To the naysayers who think I'll be intimidated by conspiracies, or by bullying, or by political prosecutions: bring it on!"
Reference is to her comments when questions arose about the $11m contract that led to felony indictments of staff.
Both Reps Sylvia Garcia and Shelia Jackson Lee make comments. Multiple other elected Democrats from Houston are present.
Rep Lee says "We got a World Series and the next day we got good government."

“
While every soft-on-crime judge didn’t lose, we made inroads, helping to defeat some Democrat judges.”
Interestingly, there were a few GOP challengers who appear to have won: Tami Pierce has 50.06% over DaSean Jones for the 180th criminal district court.
Kristin Guiney holds 50.21% over Gemayel Haynes for the 183rd, and GOP candidates hold leads in county criminal courts 2, 3, and 14.
Notes that the plaintiff (Texas Organizing Project) is basing TRO request on only 12 of the 782 polling locations in the county setting up challenge for whole county's election.
Latest: at least 12 locations in #HarrisCounty#Houston are out of paper needed to print ballots. Some have been waiting for hours for paper & turning voters away. #Election2022
I really did not think a tweet thread would be necessary today, but...
One person has died after being electrocuted, but not many details available yet:

The 15-page letter w/docs was sent Tuesday, but someone leaked it to a reporter who then posted 2 pages and misled the public about its full contents. That person instead focused on the Texas Secretary of State sending the inspectors to Harris County, but...

Per a 1997 state law, the SOS is required to send inspectors to any county upon the request of 15 or more voters and has been sending them to Harris County, the state’s most populous, and many others for years.
