I'm in the ER right now after experiencing vertigo yesterday and again this morning. I literally diagnosed myself because I graduated from WebMD medical school, but I came to make sure there wasn't anything more serious.
They told me it's likely positional vertigo, and they drew a bunch of blood and gave me a banana bag for dehydration. So I'm sitting here waiting for the iv to finish and there is a man in the other room calling everyone "fucking niggers" and demanding a white nurse.
After ten minutes of listening to him repeatedly say nigger, I was ready to rip the iv out and just leave, cause seriously?
So then he yells, "I hate fucking niggers!" really loud, and I yelled back "We hate you too. Shut the fuck up."
The entire staff laughed.
Another nurse came in and apologized to me and told me she was going to close the door to the room he is in.
Anyway, it seems like they are trying to run the tab up with my insurance because they ordered tests for shit that doesn't make sense, and now they want to do an MRI
They just gave him an Ativan injection, so let's hope that shuts him up
Also, because I keep asking so many questions about what they are doing and trying to give me, I can tell one of the nurses is getting annoyed with me. The others are cool, but she acts offended when I ask questions. IDGAF though, cause it's my right to ask
He just called someone else a fucking Puerto Rican
How long does it take Ativan to kick in, because he still going
Inspired by one of my followers, I asked if they could give the dude in the other room some Fentanyl. They laughed and apologized again.
HE IS STILL YELLING.
Everyone meet Sara Ann Kinsky. I had the extreme displeasure of having her as my nurse in the emergency room today. She was rude, snippy, and impatient when I asked questions about my own healthcare, which is my right to do as a patient.
She literally ripped a catheter out of my hand and didn't even acknowledge me when I verbalized that she was hurting me, not did she apologize.
Instead, she chose to tell me to remove the rest of the tape and sensors they had put on me myself since I was, in her words, "so sensitive to pain."
Sara, you should turn in your nursing license and choose a profession that doesn't require compassion. You are obviously ill-equipped for this type of work.
Black women already face implicit bias in Healthcare. You are not helping. In fact, you are making it worse. #healthcare#nursing#nurse
I will call you out on every platform I have.
I'm going live on Instagram to give more details. I'm @thejournalista there too. Please join me.
Sara has seen my posts because she is untagging herself in them. Don't be ashamed now, bitch. Stand tall in your bullshit.
Y'all. Someone who knows her saw my Instagram post and tagged her account (@girlbiker2) in the comments. She must have seen it, because by the time I saw the comment, I was already blocked by her IG account.
LinkedIn flagged my post about Nurse Sara, saying it is "unprofessional."
There are a lot of talks about the longterm impact of Covid on people who have contracted it, including long Covid etc, but when are we going to talk about the mental toll the pandemic has taken on the population as a whole?
Between the lockdowns, shutdowns, quarantining and people being inside their homes for months at a time with little to no contact with people outside, there has been a definite shift in people's mental state.
Something needs to be done, because people are really not OK, and you see evidence of it on a daily basis.
If nothing else, this midterm election and the Twitter discussions thereof have highlighted for me the number of adults who need to take a basic political science/American Government/Civics class because they don't even understand the basics of voting and how elections work.
Last night, I tweeted about Beto losing (again. Poor guy). I asked why this happened to him last night, and the number of people who replied "gerrymandering" was both astonishing and sad.
I want LA people to think about the fact that Rick Caruso spent $100 million of his own money for this mayoral election. $100 million! To run for MAYOR. Not President of the United States. MAYOR. He claims to care for the homeless. Guess what that $100 million could have done?
Rick Caruso is still a Republican. He is out for a power grab. He is helping further the agenda that is happening across this country. Please don't let him. Our city deserves better.
Imagine the type of power the GOP and the right could wield having an inside man like Rick Caruso as the mayor of the largest city in the state of California and the second largest city in the country after NYC.
