Watch the moments when the Nigerian Navy captured the Oil Theft ship, Heroic Idun (3 times the size of a football field) from Equitorial Guinea. The crew will be paraded tomorrow. Ovieteme George did a solid cinematic job reporting this.

I hope they don't plan to burn down the ship, destroy all evidences, set them free & close the case.

Special thanks to the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi for shining the spotlight on this scourge when others kept mute.

In this thread I posted yesterday, you'd see the Captain and Crew of Heroic Idun, begging the Indian government to come to their rescue. This is really a high level criminal enterprise, involving big men. Would there be justice, would names be named? Will the case be bungled?
The vessel is now empty. 🙃

REUBEN ABATI to DAVID HUNDEYIN: What are the facts of the (sic, Tinubu drug money forfeiture) matter and what is your interest in it?

Dr Abati really tried to keep his emotions in check during this interview. It felt like EVERYBODY RESPECT YOURSELF o🤣🤣

The investigation revealed that monies belonging to two known Drug Lords were paid into the bank accounts of the defendant, who admitted he had no other declared sources of income, at the time.

FFK, Keyamo et al should start by explaining to Nigerians how an accountant on a fixed salary income of $28,800 per annum had over $1.4m in his account. Their ridiculous explanations are bolstered by d belief that Nigerians won't read the case files.

Remember that oil tanker, MV Heroic Idun, allegedly laden with 3 million barrels of crude that escaped from Nigerian Navy to Equitorial Guinea in Aug '22? Arise TV reports the ship/crew have been caught & would be paraded on Monday.
VIDEO: Capt begs 4 help
Out of the 26 member crew, 16 are Indian sailors. Equatorial Guinea had caught & detained them, but would hand them over to the Nig Navy. Some say that they have a higher chance of being released in Nig than in EG. The oil tanker is now reportedly empty.

Nigeria loses between 400,000 - 700,000 barrels of crude per day to Oil Theft. This singular high-level criminal sabotage has contributed significantly to the country's economic woes.

Nigeria currently has no functional refinery. #oiltheft

APC and PDP are overwhelmed, benumbed & befuddled by Peter Obi. We must now take decisions that are not local or for pecuniary reasons for the sake of this nation.

Guys, this is a #BallotRevolution

MARRIAGE OF THE DEAD: This story seemed eerie at first, but on 2nd thoughts, I realised variants of this kind of marriage exist in many cultures. I know a man who 'married his wife' after she died. The woman had 3 kids for the man & they lived together for over 22 years. A thread
Few weeks after their eldest daughter got married, the woman died. It was later revealed that since the woman's own family had not enjoyed her bride price, she & her man were not qualified to enjoy their daughter's. Turned out the woman's family warned her but they didn't believe
And that was how the woman's family insisted that the man must marry their daughter, in death.

It wasn't a cheap wedding.

Peter Obi is currently on #Arisetv, speaking on Deborah's sad death & more. He condoled with Deborah's family, reiterated that the incident diminishes us as a society, shows how fragile our cohesion is and why he'll ensure rule of law.

"Currency is a measure of our economy, nationhood & trust. Govt officials who are supposed to protect our currency, now spend USD. While manufacturers cannot find USD for productive imports, politicians with no legitimate source of USD are sharing USD openly." #GiveUsPeterObi2023
We cannot continue this way. Everyone knows this money is not legitimate but no one cares.

Nigeria is not a poor country, blessed by God but we have poor leadership with poor thinking.

Each land I visited, first I look at the land and the people God gave us. #GiveUsPeterObi2023

Southern Nigeria has been in a dilemma about the concept of One Nigeria.

On one hand, it was the hallmark of sophistry to support #OneNigerianism, but this mostly meant relegating d good interests of d South

This invariably produced an ambivalence, esp for political leaders. 1/
-who congregate at Abuja to kiss d ring, shout One Nigeria & enjoy d meagre bounties of self interests at d expense of regional geopolitics

For most part of the North, d story is the opposite. Religion steeped in culture & emboldened by structural imbalance, remains supreme. 2/
Down South, most people went about their businesses, esp in the South East & more or less, outsourced political leadership to jobbers.

The result has been years of underdevelopment, punctuated by bursts of communal groups who build rural roads, fund schools & hospitals. 3/
