If the victim is from the #Dalit/ #Adivasi community, the Savarna media & intellectuals divert the whole discussion to either Hindu-Muslim or to victim blaming.
They just ignore the caste angle.
I would say ignoring #caste in such cases is a serious form of #Casteism.
These incidents are inhumane & barbaric yet the discussion is revolving around Hindu- Muslim or around the Parent - child relationship. No one is interested in discussing about the problems of safety and security of women.
Noone is discussing about this increasing violence against oppressed caste community. Dalit/Adivasi women are at the bottom in our community. Even within the women's movement, #Dalit and #Adivasi issues have not been taken seriously.
Making women eat human defecation, parading them naked, gang rapes, these crimes are specifically more targeted against #Dalit women. UC men killing Dalit women for small reason is a common phenomenon in India, because Patriachy & Casteism is deeply ingrained in many UC men.
#Dalit women & girls may be specifically targeted by dominant caste males relying on impunity for their actions. We have seen in the past gow they get support from their caste groups and even from UC dominated Police department.
correction- how* they get support
Victim blaming by Minister of State for Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India.
This is outrageous.
Supreme court ka to ispe kuch bolna hi nahi hai kyuki ye to India mein normal hai.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and M.K. Gandhi's debate on Hinduism and Caste.
(PART-1) 🧵
M.K. Gandhi (1/3)
The Vedas, Upanishads, smritis and puranas, including the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, are the Hindu scriptures. There is no finite list. Every generation has added to the list.
M.K. Gandhi (2/3)
Therefore, that everything printed or even found handwritten is not scripture. The #smritis, for example, contain many things that can never be accepted as a word from God. Thus, many texts which Dr #Ambedkar cites from smritis cannot be considered authentic.
DAMaN film is a propaganda film of current ruling government in Odisha.
This movie is anti- Adivasi to its core. This film is poorly researched and shifts the blame of poor health of Adivasis to their lifestyle & traditions.
The doctor from the Bhubaneswar removes the superstitions from the Adivasi community.
*Everyone started clapping*
But ironically, In Odisha rationalist are being attacked by traditionalist for eating chicken Biryani on Solar eclipse.
The doctor from Bhubaneswar doesn't even understand the language of Adivasis after being highly educated.
But the scene was portrayed in such a way that anyone will get the impression that the language of #Adivasis are inferior.
General and OBC category are more likely to have attended an English medium school before joining IIT, & more likely to have taken the entrance exam to IIT in English as compared to the SC/ST students (mostly Hindi or other state board language)
For students from the general caste, both parents are more likely to have at least college-level education, they are more likely to be in a higher family income bracket, and more likely to have a mother who works as a professional.
A study in social psychology found that when African-American students were encouraged to see intelligence as something fluid & changeable as opposed to fixed at birth, they obtained higher grades & enjoyed academics more (Aronson et al 2002).
But we can't expect that in India.
REBIRTH - GAUTAM BUDDHA'S VIEW
( From Ambedkar's "The Buddha and his Dhamma)
A thread 🧵
Buddha believed in rebirth, but not the brahminical concept of rebirth.
It is better to split the question into two -
1.Rebirth of what?
2.Rebirth of whom?
Rebirth of WHAT?
According to Buddha there are 4 elements of existence which go to compose the body. 1) Prithvi 2) Apa 3) Tej 4) Vayu
When a human body dies these 4 elements join the mass of similar elements floating in space.
The movie #Karnan by @mari_selvaraj shows the collective anti-caste resistance to break the shackles of Caste. I will try to explain all the symbolisms and metaphors in the Movie.
A Thread 🧵
First shot of the movie depicts how UC people ignore the people from oppressed caste. Even if the person is dying, they will just ignore it. Like Pariyerum Perumal the movie starts with death and the death of his innocent sister fuels the character "KARNAN''
There is a shot of statue of a king figure in the song ‘Kanda Vara sollunga’ riding a horse, holding a sword. That statue resembles Veeran Sundaralingam.
