Tonight’s #FridayLimericks note Nick Fuentes, symptom of the GOP’s disease. #LimerickRhyme
There’s a wee little MAGAt named Nick,
Now a part of Republicans’ schtick.
He likes stirring the pot,
But he’s not worth a lot:
Just one more young professional prick.
Nick’s a blowhard, and not really smart—
So just how did this kid get his start?
He’s that Charlottesville fool
Who then dropped out of school
To become one more YouTubing shart.
Fuentes’ background’s not all that unique;
His self-hatred has little mystique.
Just a self-loathing guy
Lashing out on the fly
To lay claim to the whiteness he’d seek. axios.com/2022/03/10/ris…
Fuentes makes sure his racism’s loud;
White supremacy makes this kid proud.
It’s all gross, but not new;
What you hear the brat spew
Has long come from the skinhead-type crowd. splcenter.org/fighting-hate/…
And his anti-Semitic hate tropes
Are just how Loser Incel Guy copes.
It’s all hateful and gross;
Is it “special”? Not close.
Prior Nazis all showed him the ropes. cnn.com/2022/11/25/pol…
His misogyny, likewise, is stale—
Hatred born of perpetual fail.
He’s a virginal man
Who has nary a plan—
Just his anger to cover his bale. dailydot.com/debug/nick-fue…
So is Fuentes too toxic to touch?
Even Musk thinks this guy is too much.
Gave a Twitter re-ban
To this hateful young man—
But repubs use his bile as a crutch. axios.com/2022/10/30/twi…
While his hatred we all must rebuke,
The big picture is more than this puke.
For his hate-monger face
Earned repubs’ full embrace;
Meeting Trump was no mere one-off fluke. rollingstone.com/politics/polit…
When a party gives nothing but hate,
It enables a full shame-free slate.
They’re afraid to reject
Nick’s sick, assholey sect;
This does not make America great. theguardian.com/us-news/2022/o…
So unless and until they reform,
Just assume little Nick is their norm.
He is not just one creep;
It’s a rot that runs deep.
They would let us all burn—and it’s warm.
We can’t have a shared political discourse in this country without having a shared language with which to conduct it. I would love for every interview of a political figure to work toward this by digging in on buzzwords. (Thread) #ResistanceUnited #LiveBlue2022
Accusations of “communism”? How so? What are you saying is communist? Private companies making free-market decisions you don’t like? A government providing health care options to promote the “general welfare”? What exactly are you attacking?
You say LGBTQ people are “groomers”? What do you mean by that? What part of their existence constitutes “grooming” by your definition?
Tonight’s #FridayLimericks are still looking for that red wave. #LimerickRhyme
Though republicans roared from the sea,
Seems their red wave just wasn’t to be.
As their bellowing thins,
Now the blame game begins—
And the former guy’s allies all flee. washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/…
Junior promised a “bloodbath” was here—
So then why did that guy disappear?
The momentum all froze
While Don “powdered his nose,”
With no chance for his usual sneer. newsweek.com/donald-trump-j…
The historical trends would suggest
We’d be stanching the bleeding at best.
But with sanity purged,
Too much MAGA emerged—
And did worse than the pundits had guessed. fivethirtyeight.com/features/why-t…
I get reveling in all the far-right whining and infighting and turning in each other. I’ve enjoyed some popcorn over it too. But lest we get too excited, keep in mind that the main complaint they have is that he’s not an effective enough autocrat. #ResistanceUnited #LiveBlue2022
Their pushing an incompetent former president under the bus is fun, but most are aiming to replace him with someone they feel will be nearly as much a blow hard, but also a more effective bully. This embarrassment is far from the end of this version of the GOP.
Several of these lickspittle fools are already endorsing Trump for 2024. Others are just looking for a different bulldozer. And meanwhile, Peter Thiel, the Kochs, and other dark money ghouls are figuring out which anti-democratic corporate stooge should get their financial push.
So my concern with this kind of post isn’t the condescension of “educate yourself,” nor the absurdity of believing a widely discredited “documentary” from a lazy partisan felony hack over all the evidence that the election was free and fair.
My concern is more that pseudo-intellectuals like @DineshDSouza give cover to folks like Paul here to participate in the undoing of democracy. Whether Paul is an intentional dissembler or an unwitting fool is really irrelevant.
We live in a world where if you want to find “evidence” for any position in the world, you can do so. And if a Paul is too busy selling real estate or too lazy or incompetent to vet obviously partisan sources of disinformation, he just shares blatant lies out to the world.
More than at any other time in my life, 2022 is an election for the long term. Republicans have promised obstruction and retribution if they gain majorities, and we have seen enough in recent years to know they are not bluffing. (Thread) #ResistanceUnited #LiveBlue2022
Disappointed by the Dobbs opinion? So am I. But a Republican senate will never confirm a Biden SC nominee; it will get worse, not better.
Upset that we haven’t seen accountability for the Trump White House RICO conspiracy? Guess what happens to every congressional investigation if Democrats lose control? They get replaced by the Gym Jordan Snitches Get Stitches Committee.
Some people are on the fence on their midterm votes because, while the loss of women’s, workers’, and LGBTQ rights kind of stinks, they are more worried about prices. If that is you, have you heard any actual plan the GOP has to remedy this? #ResistanceUnited #LiveBlue2022
It’s easy enough to yell “Prices! Economy! Very bad things!” But the GOP answer to your economic pain is to let companies do what they want (other than support diversity), cut Social Security and Medicare, and cut taxes for the rich. None of this helps you.
Americans face different battles, different struggles, different challenges. That’s part of why our democracy exists, part of why we depend on it. Democrats want your voice to be heard; republicans want dark money and gerrymandering to ensure their richest donors carry the day.
