Twitter is a form of art.

Some people are really good at it, & others are really bad. Using it correctly is one of the best ways to grow your network.

This is how I was able to grow 100,000+ followers in less than a year… 🥐
Over the span of my lifetime on Twitter, I’ve had:

-98M impressions
-4.2M profile visits
-572K engagements
-32,022 mentions
-3,414 tweets

Making an average of around 28K impressions per tweet. How? It was not exactly easy.

Everyone thinks of Twitter the wrong way.
Twitter is something that will reward you for good content. It will also hurt you for bad content.

The best way to understand this is getting familiar with the algorithm.

A bad tweet will damage your reach for the future.

A good tweet will help your reach for the future.
The first thing I started doing when I created my account was coming up with consistent content.

It was important to not sacrifice quality for quantity.

Immediately after posting a thread, I would do a few things to ensure its success…
After writing about a specific project or concept, I would go under the relevant hashtag (such as #ETH, #BTC, or #NFT) and sort results by latest.

Then, I would go and follow accounts posting within the last minute.

Why does this matter?
The idea is that at least a portion of the accounts I followed would think:

“Who just followed me?”

Which would lead to them viewing my latest tweet about something they just posted a hashtag under.

It also made sure the people I followed were online at the given moment.
Then, the odds are much greater that they would share and/or like the tweet.

I was very punctual with this, because the greater the impressions and engagements are right after posting, the better Twitter will spread the tweet across the timeline of others.
Don’t get me wrong though, it took a long time to get to where I wanted to be.

I worked entire days on threads that would only get a couple likes and rts, but I wasn’t fazed.

I knew what it would take.
The next thing I had to learn to be wary of was word choice.

Through trial and error, I learned which words would affect tweets and how.

Words that inflict strong emotions like shock should be avoided.

Examples:

BREAKING
WARNING
URGENT
SHOCKING
Next came learning how to format my content.

There is a simple reason why many threads fail.

Many lack flow, context, and overall organization.

If you were to pick a random tweet in a thread, it’s unlikely you’ll be inclined to rt because it doesn’t make sense by itself.
Meanwhile, if you formatted it in a way that each tweet inside of the thread can be it’s own tweet, you’re going to be golden.

More people will share it, and less will skip by it because it makes sense without context of the rest of the thread.
Another thing I like to abide by is the visual representation of a thread.

In a tweet, you can fit text, a quote tweet, & up to four images.

This is how you maximize the info you can get across to others even with limited space.

Prove your text with images, tying it together.
I also like to run up my tweets to the very last character space. Very often I deliberate word choice and spacing longer than the actual content.

I want my writings to be visually appealing, not all bunched together in a clump of text.

This is why this tweet has three spaces.
Additionally, it’s important to be relevant.

You don’t want to tweet about something late, or repeat all the content others have been writing about.

Be original, you’ll be rewarded for it.
Speaking of rewards, even without all of these extra precautions hard work will be noticed.

If you write the good content, the followers will come.

I wrote for months without seeing anything in terms of growth. Just be patient.
After all of these things are taken care of, the ball will start rolling.

The Twitter algorithm is like a credit score, one you cannot see.

A good history with Twitter will exponentially grow your reach.

Even one bad thread can throw it all off.
You need to keep in mind what Twitter itself wants.

If you link externally to other websites in your thread, it will be treated worse.

This also goes for tagging users, if you do it too much it will be treated as spam by Twitter.
Lastly, I’m very hesitant of what I choose to retweet.

I have less than 100 retweets on my page for good reason. Each retweet is treated like your own tweet.

I want people visiting my page to view me, not others.
All of these things can combine to create something extraordinary.

My account is probably one of the strongest I know in terms of engagement & reach out of all people on CT.

This is for good reason.

I hope you guys enjoy this thread and learn from it!

There is some very fascinating stuff going on with Twitter and the recent Elon Musk deal.

Although these circumstances are still a bit speculative, it’s definitely worth digging into.

Here’s what I’ve found… 👀
This story begins a long time ago, in 1999.

Elon Musk had just sold Zip2 to Compaq Computers for $307M, giving him $22M with his 7% share in the company.

A month later, he invested $12M for x.com, one of the world’s first online banks.
In 2000, x.com merged with Confinity, which would later become PayPal.

Elon Musk was then ousted as CEO and replaced by Peter Thiel, but was allowed to keep his shares.

PayPal was acquired by EBay for $1.5B in 2002, giving Elon Musk roughly $175.8M.

Sam Bankman-Fried says “the clearest way to help protect investors is to provide transparency and prevent scams.”

Just how transparent has he been in the past?
Anyone remember big data protocol? This token once acquired 10% of all DeFi TVL in a single weekend, with over $6B in total value locked.

~$1B of the TVL belonged to Alameda, who dumped it relentlessly on plebs.

From $114M mcap down to just $581K today.
Next, we have the infamous Stargate dumping carnage.

The Alameda team sniped the $25M auction in the first block, and claimed they won’t be selling for “at least” three years.

A short time after they secretly sent 8.4M STG to FTX & Binance.

From $4.14 down to $0.42 today

I began working on an NFT project called The Bakery more than a year ago.

It has come with many trials and tribulations.

This is everything that I’ve done to get us to where we are.

First, I wrote threads. Lots of them. 132 25+ tweet-long threads in 464 days.
Next, I began working on a website to post articles.

I registered a domain, configured, and optimized it.

I created several iterations of a site only to scrap it and use Wordpress for hosting + CMS.

I designed graphics, wrote tons of descriptions, & created pages for content.
I wrote 76 articles, created 76 thumbnails, and proofread all of them.

I redesigned the site several times to look better.

I deliberated our token economics for months.

I deployed hundreds of testnet smart contracts and tokens to test everything.

Ethereum has life-changing opportunities out there in the wild.

Yes, even in bear markets.

‘Information asymmetry’ is something you must use to your advantage.

Here’s how… 🥐 (1/x)
Crypto… is confusing. There is so much noise it is hard to even know where to look.

Luckily, this is where we are going to capitalize. With a little dedication, we’re going to master navigating on and off-chain.

The 1st step of my research process is very simple. I ask myself:
𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯?

With this question, I compile a handful of ideas for further digging…

Will Twitter launch more crypto features?

Will Unreal Engine 5 drop a Metaverse?

Will Arbitrum announce a token?
