A freedom fighter, #BabuGenuSaid
inspired by Gandhi's Ahimsa, staged a protest against the transport of a truck carrying foreign-made cloth through the Kalbadevi area.
Babu was an illiterate cotton mill worker & labour unionist,
who bought into Gandhi’s vision of Swadeshi and made it his life’s work to defeat the forces of economic colonialism, using non-violent means.
On this day in 1932, George Frazier, a cloth merchant from Manchester, who owned the consignment of foreign-made clothes, was afforded
protection by the British police.
Babu dared British & stood in front of the truck shouting Gandhi's name, the Bharatiya truck driver refused to move the vehicle on him saying he can't kill his brother, this irritated the British Officer who took the steering in his hands.
Babu was run over by an Arrogant British Officer when he tried to stop a truck carrying imported clothes.
Babu was only 22 years on this day at that time.

Equipped with only a constable's baton and a walkie-talkie, Kamlesh Kumari started following the car and spotted 5 men, all heavily armed head towards the building.
As soon as she
noticed it, she raised an alarm - shouting as well as on the walkie talkie.
This first step from her gave the CRPF personnel a few additional crucial seconds to tackle the terrorists.
She ran towards a constable to alert him of the terrorists but the terrorists opened fire
A R Venkatachalapathy in his book “Who Owns That Song” compares Subramania Bharati with Tagore, and he writes…
Why is Subramania Bharati not as well-known as Rabindranath Tagore?
The Nobel Prize? Part of the answer but not the whole.
A R V gives a most meaningful illustration about Bharati, he says Bharati’s life was short. Of his thirty-nine years, over ten were spent in exile in Pondicherry to escape the British Indian police. At a time when Tagore was being feted, Bharati was pleading with the governor
of Madras for justice. If the crowds at the time of Tagore’s death caused near riots, Bharati’s funeral procession drew eleven persons and there was a confusion over who would light the pyre.
