Remember they held demonstrations to scold any women objecting to being flashed? Remember when they came screaming in the streets to protect that predator? #WiSpa.
We don’t forget. We have receipts.
Remember when they tried to tell us it was all staged? That it never happened? #WiSpa
As a woman, I’m terrified of rape. It is one of THE most traumatic things that can happen to you. It takes forever to heal from. It can leave you incapacitated. Broken. Destroyed. 1/
I cannot for a second imagine demanding anything of a rape survivor, let alone that they be around men. It’s inconceivable to me. 2/
Every woman I know, and I mean every, feels the same way. If a survivor wanted a space that had only redheads born on a Tuesday I’d try to give it to her. Because I’d center HER and no one else. Whatever SHE needs. 3/
It’s always so useful when your opponent accuses you of something you aren’t doing. It tells you what THEY are doing. Every accusation is an admission.
In that vein, let me tell you what I learned about “reactive abuse”. 1/
Reactive abuse is a tactic. In a relationship it is abuse. In a political sphere it is a game to make you look like the aggressor. Then they can play victim, gain sympathy, and political power. 2/
Reactive abuse is a non-stop manipulation tactic. It’s a form of gaslighting. It is terrible because it’s so insidious. Others don’t see it happening. It is subtle. 3/
A thread about the word cis: short for cisgender. 1/
I ran a poll and over 5700 people said they find to be offensive. That should be enough for anyone not to use the term. If you want to know why, read the responses.
2/ The reason I find it offensive is that it suggests I identify with gender stereotypes. People are not walking talking GI Joe dolls or Barbies. I fought gender stereotypes my whole life. I won’t wear one as a label.
There are many other reasons.
3/. Once someone has told you that they find a term offensive, to continue to use the term is to turn it into a slur: a bigoted and intolerant position refusing to accept that others differ from your ideology. #CisIsASlur
Being that #TERFs is trending, I thought I’d explain that this is used as the new curse word for women. If women say no to the entry of men into women’s sports, prisons or even their beds, we get called this. Often with threats. Here are some of them. 1/
A #terf is a woman who has said no. That’s all. Simply no. For example, this rape shelter said no to males. It’s for females only. You can understand why. For the crime of saying no, they were attacked and had their funding stripped from them. A shelter! 2/
A lesbian who excludes a certain sex from her dating pool, gets unrelenting abuse. 3/
What is a Terf? With #Terfs trending every day, some people are confused. The term originally stood for trans exclusionary radical (as in root) feminist.
Now it means anyone who excludes men from their definition of women. 1/
If you think women are entitled to choose to play sports with other women you’re a Terf. 2/
If you think it’s terribly wrong to have violent men housed in women’s prisons cells, because…well…obviously…..you’re a terf. 3/
