Whitehead is in a white hooded sweatshirt, with a retained lawyer. AUSA says he was arrested today at 6 am.
Magistrate Judge Gorenstein describes wire fraud and threat of force to obtain money from a #Bronx business; also lie about not having a 2d cell phone.
US agrees to $500,000 unsecured bond, a week for 2 signatures. Jersey travel allowed.
Asst US Attorney: He is to be released today on his own signature.
Defense: He has never had a passport.

Judge: It's clear Mr. Scavino will have to testify. I set up this conference to try to facilitate that. Serve the subpoena on him & we'll go from there, how ever long it takes.

Judge Carter: Would it be sufficient for plaintiff to put in its website that yes we take complaints, but we may or may not respond? Or an automated response, that "We may consider it"?
Plaintiff: The statute requires a clear policy of how they will respond...
Plaintiff: Sites are going to feel the burden and pressure to take the content down. In subsection 4 it says what they may be held liable for - so sites will think they must respond or be investigated and fined by the Attorney General.

OK - now at sentencing in US v Batise Boyce who pled guilty to possessing a firearm after having previously been convicted of 6 prior felonies, incl robbery, an assault with a firearm & a slashing attack- & gun in school zone, threadette below
Federal Defender says Boyce's wife is 42, not 35. Their sentencing letter was filed under seal - partially, with mental health redacted. Max is 180 months.
1st up is victim Jerry Brown. He says, "The animal who shot me...took my life away...colostomy bag...I work all my life."

Buyer - lawyer is pronouncing it Boo-yer - wants the two insider trading schemes tried separately, under Rule 14.

Petitioners' lawyer: Not so. Now a police officer, who is not a mental health professional, can involuntarily detain.
City's lawyer: Petitioners are out of line. This was supposed to be discovery conference. Now it seems they are requesting, today, a TRO [Temporary Restraining Order]. But I'm happy to speak to the mertis.
