Did you Know?
Dowry Didn't Evolve from India.
Where did We Get This Terrible Idea?
Hindus got it from the Europeans - - especially from the British occupiers where this evil practise of buying a groom/bride was being practised in Britain since time medieval times.
According to several sources, the present dowry practice in India can be traced only to the 19th century - likely because that is when Indians observed the full-fledged practice of dowry among the British in India.
Here are some excerpts from a wonderfully, enlightening book, The Marriage Bargain, Women and Dowries in European History :
"In France, the dowry was almost a universal institution, even among servants, laborers and tenant farmers, until the interwar era (1918-1939).
Only the poorest urban industrial workers had no dowries, and as a result many of them did not marry at all. "For the great majority of the bourgeoisie (middle class) marriage is the greatest financial operation of their lives." Wrote an observer of the French scene in 1927.
"What was the status of the daughter whose birth ' filled a father's heart with fear' (Dante, Renaissance poet, 1265-1321 C. E. because of the large dowry which her marriage would require?"
In Manu Smriti it is clearly stated that If Parents so wish to gift their daughters with gifts during marriage i.e Gold, Jewellery, Property etc these would be the woman's property and NOT of the husband/ husband's family.
The concept of stri dhan in which gifts --usually jewelry, including often a quarter pound of gold, land, property --was given to the bride by her family, in order to secure some personal wealth for her when she married.
These remained her personal property throughout the marriage, providing some security in case of her husband's death or other calamity.
However, in approximately the 19th century, under the British occupation, the loving practice of Stri dhan was joined by the very much different concept of dowry.
Dowry became first an expected, then a demanded, offering given by the bride's family to the groom's family at the time of marriage. Whereas Stri dhan is considered the property only of the woman, passed matrilineally, Dowry is not.
The book Dowry Murder: The Imperial Origins of a Cultural Crime - By Veena Talwar Oldenburg where the author argues that 'these killings are neither about dowry nor reflective of Hindu culture or ''caste system'' that encourages violence against women.
Rather, such killings can be traced directly to the influences of the British colonial era. In the pre-colonial period, dowry was an institution managed by women, for women, to enable them to establish their status and have recourse in an emergency.
As a consequence of the massive economic and societal upheaval brought on by British rule, womens' entitlements to the precious resources obtained from land were erased and their control of the system diminished, ultimately resulting in a devaluing of their very lives.'
More good things thanks to the Christian State.
The book takes us on a journey into the colonial Punjab, Veena Oldenburg skillfully follows the paper trail left by British bureaucrats to indict them for interpreting these crimes against women as the inherent defects of '
''Hindu caste culture'', Laws of Manu Smriti, so called ''Brahmanical Patriarchy '' etc.
The British, Oldenburg claims, publicized their "civilizing mission" and blamed the caste system in order to cover up the devastation and havoc their own agrarian policies had wrought on the Indian countryside. #hinduhistory #knowyourhistory #knowyourhinduscriptures #trinetra108

Understanding Manu Smriti-I: Women and Freedom
The much touted verse of misogyny in Manusmriti, actually has nothing anti-women in it.
ता रक्षति कौमारे भर्ता रक्षति यौवने ।
रक्षन्ति स्थाविरे पुत्राः न स्त्री स्वातन्त्र्यमर्हति ।। (Manu Smriti.9.3).
Almost everybody knows this verse from Manu Smriti for its misinterpreted meaning. This verse, which is often explained as denying women independence, has been touted as the ultimate proof of misogyny in Hinduism.
Yet, a thorough reading of the verse will reveal how the true import of the verse has been twisted and misinterpreted.
Let us now try to understand the true import of the verse.
First, the context.

Ancient Bharat's Forgotten Scientists & Mathematicians
Pingala's Binary System
Acharya Pingala is said to have lived around 400-200 BC, maybe earlier and is believed to be the brother of the well known Sanskrit grammarian MahaRishi Pāṇini.
Acharya Pingala discovered the immense possibilities of Binary numbers quite by accident, which today are used for Computing language. He was working on the meter or Chandah of Vedas. Our Vedas were composed in meters or Chandah.
Most Indian Languages have the Deerga or long swar and the Laghu or short swar. This combination of long and short sounds is the basis of Sanskrit prosody or meter or chandah. In 200 BCE, a work called Chandahsastra was authored by Pingala, the Mathematician.
Snakes and Ladders is an ancient Indian game which was brought to the west by the British in 1892.
It was called Mokshapath meaning Path to Salvation.
In sanskrit Moksha=Salvation and Path=Path.
This game originated in ancient India and was called Mokshapath which means the path of salvation.
It was also called Param Pad Sopanam or The Highest Place.
The ultimate goal of the game was to achieve salvation by reaching the top.
Every time a person does a bad deed, he ends up at the snake’s mouth and is demoted in the game of attaining salvation.
Hindu scriptures such as Vedas and Upanishads are full of profound knowledge and wisdom. It is sangam of knowledge, inspirations, motivations, intuitions, poetry, philosophy, wisdom, science and vision. Knowledge of Vedas is eternal.
That’s why it attracts even non-Hindus towards Vedas. There are several famous foreign personalities who have shown keen interest towards Vedas, Upanishads and Hindu spirituality. One such famous personality is Hollywood superstar Hugh Jackman.
During a 2014 interview, he had admitted his fascination with Vedic literature and traditions.
It feels really great to see that while our leftist-liberal secular mafia belittles the Vedic tradition and underrate the profound wisdom of Hinduism.
Rishi Kanad (Sanskrit: कणाद) -
The forgotten Ancient Scientist/ Physicist of India who explained Laws of Motion and Atomic Theory
MahaRishi Kanad lived in era of 2nd BC and is depicted as a scientist and philosophical scholar who wrote the 'The Vaiseshikha Sutra' .
His major work was in 'Rasavadam'- modern day elemental physics and Chemistry.
In the book 'Vaiseshika Sutra', Rishi Kanad has stated three laws of motions in 2nd BC.
Till this date of modern physics, Newton is falsely believed to have given these laws as well as the concept of gravity. He is known for laying the foundations of an atomic naturalism Indian philosophy in the Sanskrit text.
MahaRishi Manu, a Kshatriya King, hailing from the Solar Dynasty and an ancestor of Prabhu Shri Rama has been vilified by the Marxist, Jihadi anti Hindu ''historians'' as a ''Brahman who created the most casteist as well as anti Dalit anti women'' laws ~ 1
Laws in his #Manusmriti that was written and compiled tens of thousands of years ago to '' establish Brahman hegemony'' over the ''lower castes''.
The fact is none of this is the truth. Majority of Hindus do not understand Sanskrit nor they have ever bothered to study
A line of these ancient scriptures so to counter the fake narrative of the Leftists and Jihadis and so called western scholars like Wendy Donniger, Audrey Truschke, who have continue to spew venom at Hindus and Hinduism and have interpolated our scriptures with false verses.
