(i) Manusmriti On Nature of women :

2.213 "It is the very nature of women to corrupt men. It is for this reason that the wise are never unguarded regarding women."

Exactly same is mentioned in Mahabharata Anusasana Parva /48.47-48
Manusmriti 9.18 "Manu assigned to women sleep, sitting, ornament, lust, anger, dishonesty, malice and bad conduct."

1. Is #Manusmriti anti-women? It is often posited as such & one of the reasons given is that it states 'women do not deserve independence' which is interpreted as women being oppressed through repression of life choices especially in matters related to Artha & Kama.
But is it even a correct interpretation? Is Artha & Kama even the context in which the said verses are mentioned? How can Manu praise women at one place, and then repress them at another? What is the true teachings of ##Manusmriti on Stree-dharma?

Why Maligned and Defamed?   Scripture older than 200 BC which is orated in chaste Sanskrit following truthful  impeccability of Panini “Asthadhyayi “ should have been matter of splendid inheritance and pride of intellectual competence for any civilization.
Yet, the discourse around Manu Smriti is based on rejection and repudiation on some fallacious imagination. Narratives have been manufactured about its anti-women right and anti-weaker Caste right.  How it all started and who conspired to take it forward?
A painful yet factual truth which exists and the masses do not know is that we do not have an original copy of Manu Smriti today in our library. Infact we have today more than 50 manuscripts of Manu Smriti today and each claiming to be original and oldest.

For some in India, today is Christmas day, and for a few, it's tulsi poojan, which, of course, has a very bogus religious logic. But for us, this is #Manusmritidahandiwas. On this day in 1927, #BabaSaheb and his companions burned Manu smriti during the days of
#mahadsatyagarha. This is one of the main events of the fight of dalit struggle against the evil brahminical system. Let's remember this event proudly.
Upper caste savarana made all effort so that Dr. Ambedkar would not get land for the event. But a Muslim gentleman named
Fatte khan gave his private land for the event. Volunteers have to take a resolution on 5 points.

1. I don't believe in the varna system.

2. I don't believe in the caste system.

3. I believe untouchability is a curse to the Hindu religion, and I will honestly try to end this

Understanding Manu Smriti-I: Women and Freedom
The much touted verse of misogyny in Manusmriti, actually has nothing anti-women in it.
ता रक्षति कौमारे भर्ता रक्षति यौवने ।
रक्षन्ति स्थाविरे पुत्राः न स्त्री स्वातन्त्र्यमर्हति ।। (Manu Smriti.9.3).
Almost everybody knows this verse from Manu Smriti for its misinterpreted meaning. This verse, which is often explained as denying women independence, has been touted as the ultimate proof of misogyny in Hinduism.
Yet, a thorough reading of the verse will reveal how the true import of the verse has been twisted and misinterpreted.
Let us now try to understand the true import of the verse.
First, the context.

MahaRishi Manu, a Kshatriya King, hailing from the Solar Dynasty and an ancestor of Prabhu Shri Rama has been vilified by the Marxist, Jihadi anti Hindu ''historians'' as a ''Brahman who created the most casteist as well as anti Dalit anti women'' laws ~ 1
Laws in his #Manusmriti that was written and compiled tens of thousands of years ago to '' establish Brahman hegemony'' over the ''lower castes''.
The fact is none of this is the truth. Majority of Hindus do not understand Sanskrit nor they have ever bothered to study
A line of these ancient scriptures so to counter the fake narrative of the Leftists and Jihadis and so called western scholars like Wendy Donniger, Audrey Truschke, who have continue to spew venom at Hindus and Hinduism and have interpolated our scriptures with false verses.

1/n "India that is Bharat..."

Today what stands as the "Nation-State" is the root of great civilization of (or called) "Bharat".

If the places are mapped as in Mahabharata, it appeared as giant as this bordered by Persia & China.
2/n Any logical person would understand with such gigantic size came terrific diversity in form of geography, hence climate and hence Society.

What would be "right"in a region might be incorrect somewhere else.

Clothing & food can be a perfect eg to begin to understand nuances.
3/n Rightly so, it is observed by scholars that there were perhaps around a hundred Dharmaśāstras (History of the Dharmaśāstras Vol. 1, by PV Kane).

The constant thing among all was "Dharma" that bound the diversity of civilizations together without imposing own Smriti on other.

Yesterday, @rohanreplies & his fellow classless Chamchas trolled me on this.

But I say this again - Dr. Ambedkar did refer the ‘#Manusmriti’ in drafting the ‘most significant legislation’ in the Constituent Assembly.

Let us look at the reference. It is quite interesting.

Section III of Vol.14 of ‘Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Writings and Speeches’ describes -

Dr.Ambedkar’s remarks during the ‘Discussion on 🔸The Hindu Code🔸After Return of the Bill from The Select Committee.

According to Dr. Ambedkar, this is the signicance of the #HinduCode 👇🏼

“There is no doubt that the two Smritikars whom I have mentioned— Yagnavalkya and Manu, rank the highest among the 137 who had tried their hands in framing Smritis.”

- Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the then Law Minister of India to the Constituent Assembly in February 1949.

It's not 'good governance day'. It's #ManusmritiDahanDivas'.

I bet, a lot many Indians are not aware about the same. During the Mahad Satyagraha, Dr Ambedkar bravely showed #Manusmriti its place.
Mahad Satyagraha was a fight to assert the Dalits’ right to access "public water", and to embrace humanity and dignity.

For Dr Ambedkar—a staunch advocate of women’s rights and emancipation—it was a political action to burn #Manusmriti publicly.

On December 25, 1927, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar burned #Manusmriti as a symbol of rejection of the religious basis of #untouchability.

I have been so fed up with many Hindus propagating misinformation about #Manusmriti saying nobody has access to the authentic text, or that it was fabricated by British, etc, I thought it is a good idea to take a picture of printed books of Manusmriti I have with me.
Here is a link to Manusmriti with six commentaries all in Sanskrit. The commentaries included are: Medatithi, Sarvajna-Narayana, Kulluka, Raghavananda, Nandana, & Ramachandra, most of them lived before the British even set foot on India-…

Caste In #Hindutva (1/a)
There was No caste system in Sanatan Hindu till Islamic Rule.
All the Scriptures including #Manusmriti upheld "Varna" not the Caste. Next time Any left, Islamic-Xtian Sponsored Intellect say about the Caste, slap this thread on his/her face.
Caste In #Hindutva (1/b)
No where in Vedas mentioned "Caste" according to one's Birth {sic}
If "Varna" is static then there must not be any "code of conducts" for certain Varna. BUT there are code of conducts for 4 Varnas and the Varna Position is "Dynamic"
Caste In #Hindutva (1/c)
In #Manusmriti the 2nd chapter sloka 37, 40, 103, 168; 4th chapter 258 Even In #SrimadBhagwatGita it clearly mentioned there no superiority & Inferiority according to their BIRTH.

Varna vyavastha practiced upto the Mahabharta period:

Manu’s social system all people had equal rights to join any of the varnas according to their merits nd vocations, irrespective of their parents profession.

System continued from Rigvedic period until Mahabharata(Geeta) period, Geeta clearly says:

The chaturvaranya (the four-class system) has been created on the basis of people’s vocations nd merits nd not on their birth nd parentage.
The whole community acquiring a new varna:

Besides individuals we also come across examples of a whole community or a large part of it leaving its earlier varna and acquiring a new one.

Caste Based Reservation in India Started in 2nd Century BC. In #Manusmriti - the law book of Brahmins all the laws were based on #Caste and no Merit was ever considered. It divided people into High & Low Castes on the basis of their birth and not on the basis of Merit.
Wealth, Political power, Spiritual leadership, Education, Ownership of Land, Trade and all lucrative aspects were reserved purely to the higher castes. This system of caste based discrimination entrenched in day today social life since ages.

#Manusmriti Change of Varna:

Examples in history:

Hundreds of examples from Bharatiya history can be cited in support of the fact that Varna Vyavastha is based on an individual’s vocation andaction, and has nothing to do with his birth.
1. Aiterya Rishi was the son of Das. But he became a "उच्च कोटि" Brahmin and composed Aiterya Brahmana and Aiterya Upanishad.
Aiterya Brahman Grantha is considered to be very important to understand the Rigveda.
2. Raja Vishvamitra who- was born of Kshatriya parents became a Brahmarshi.

#thread: The position of women in the #Manusmriti

Women are held in highest esteem

It is clear from the internal evidence of the Manusmriti that the anti-women picture of Manu presented by some is baseless and contrary to the facts.

The provisions concerning women in Manu have been inspired by his sense of respect, justice and goodwill and his concern for their securityand equality with men. Here are some facts of evidence in support: -

Wife Beating and #MaritalRape in Vedic Literature: Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 6.4.7

Original Sanskrit verse & Commentary by Adi Shankara (Shankara Bhasya) translated into English by Swami Madhavananda: Image
One, The Early Upanishads are considered Vedic Literature attached to Veda Samhitas. Two, Context is SEX; Procreation OR not; spelled out in 6.4.10-11. Three, The interpretation "buy her over with ornaments" is from Shankara Bhasya, & THIS version was used.
Is he @MisraNityanand dishonest or just plain ignorant? He goes till verse 8 of Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 6.4 & concludes "context is procreation only (needed for life)". Go further till 10 & 11. Husband chants "may she not conceive!" 6.4.10. Context is Sex.
