Moisés Caicedo to Chelsea is one to watch. There is a real sense, from multiple sources, #CFC may move. Graham Potter when still at Brighton joked £42m would only "get his boots". #BHAFC want around £70-£75m.
Brighton aren't going to entertain any cut-price sale. They'll inflate the price and knowing Chelsea paid
an above-market-value fee (£62m) for Marc Cucurella only strengthens their position. Brighton don't need to sell in January either. #CFC weighing up an approach as a result.
Caicedo's agent situation is complicated. This presents problems when doing a deal. #LFC explored Caicedo when at Independiente del Valle. They saw value (Brighton ended up paying just £4.5m) but a move came with all kinds of other costs and multiple agents claimed a cut.
Not a lot has changed in terms of how 'messy' a deal might prove. Historical interest doesn't mean anything active right now. Told, contrary to some reports, #LFC have not opened any talks whatsoever with Brighton.
The Newcastle links do have some substance to them. Dan Ashworth has been pushing Caicedo since joining Newcastle from Brighton as sporting director. But Newcastle have some FFP concerns so may also be put off by the price or wait until summer.
Not that #NUFC can't find one big fee in January. It's more whether doing so impacts future windows. They have to be careful not to pre-spend for #UCL, and in doing so incur big outlays and potentially higher wages, only to find their future income doesn't back up that strategy.

More on Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Al-Nassr. Ronaldo could earn close to $200m per season with salary, incentives and commercial deals included. The base football salary (excluding bonuses) is only around 40% of the total package.
Al-Nassr were always confident of a deal and tabled their formal offer immediately after Ronaldo became a free agent. Ronaldo’s medical has been booked for weeks and several rooms set aside for his entourage in a seven-star hotel.
Ronaldo has already undertaken part one of his medical (required for contract processing and visa) with the second part due to take place in Riyadh. He will live in a luxury gated villa in one of the most prestigious areas of Riyadh.
🗣 Benfica boss Roger Schmidt on Enzo Fernandez: “I don’t know if this was Enzo’s last match. He’s been a great player since he arrived at Benfica. Sometimes in football things happen and players have to make a decision. Let’s see what happens next week.” (Via @SLBenfica)
Negotiations continue between Benfica and #CFC. Chelsea hoping to pay more than the €120m release clause and gain preferable payment terms by doing so. They have player buy in. Benfica prepared to engage due to a feeling Chelsea’s offer might be too strong to turn down.
But there are still senior members at the club still adamant they want to keep Fernandez until the end of the season, especially with #UCL knockout football to come. Chelsea are pushing as hard, and moving as quick, as they can. All about Benfica’s reply now.
🚨 PSG have received three formal offers for minority investment. Two parties are US-based. Due diligence is now being undertaken. Told all three investors value the club at over €4bn.
QSI are prepared to sell up to a 15% stake. Each party has made a different offer ranging between 5-15%. QSI will only sell to one investor. Process expected to advanced in Q1 of 2023 and be completed in Q2 at the latest.
QSI purchased PSG in 2011 for €70m. If they sold the full 15% they would make €600m. It’s thought the final % sold won’t quite be that high, but be at least 10%. Specifics still under discussion.
Chelsea have entered into direct talks with Benfica over Enzo Fernandez. Their tactic, as previously reported, is to pay above the release clause in order to get more preferable payment terms. Benfica under no obligation to accept unless the release clause is triggered.
#CFC pushing hard. Although Benfica have already said they want to keep Fernandez until summer (something Chelsea could also try to pre-agree for but primary aim is to get him now), told there is now divided opinion within their board due to the fee Chelsea are prepared to pay.
Key to everything, if release clause isn’t triggered, is structure. Whereas with Wesley Fofana, Chelsea ensured payment terms suited Leicester, with Fernandez, #CFC want payment structure on their terms. This means a high overall fee. Not an easy negotiation but an ambitious one.
Devastated to hear Pelé has died aged 82. The only man to have won the World Cup three times and one of the greatest footballers of all time. A true icon.
His daugher, Kely Nascimento, writes: "Everything we are is thanks to you. We love you infinitely."
Pelé's self-calculated goal tally during a 21-year playing career was 1,283 in 1,363 games. He won six Campeonato Brasileiro Série A titles with Santos and the Copa Libertadores twice along with two Intercontinental Cups and one Intercontinental Supercup.
As Pelé explained: “I was born to play football, just like Beethoven was born to write music and Michelangelo was born to paint.”
He also transcended sport fast becoming a global superstar.
As reported yesterday, #LFC have not made a bid for Enzo Fernandez and all interested suitors, including #CFC, have concerns about paying the €120m release clause.
