On the 205th anniversary of #shauryadiwas, a brief thread on the battle of Bhima Koregaon.

Bhima Koregaon is a village situated at the Bhima river in the Pune district of Maharashtra. This village is called Bhima Koregaon because of this.
Many of you watched the movie 300 about the 300 Spartans warriors going against thousands of Persian armies. But you may never be heard about the greatest battle in Indian history when only 500 of the Mahar soldier fought and won against the force of 28000 Peshwas.
Peshwa rule was famous for the oppression of the Dalits, atrocities and degrading way of treating the Dalits of India. When Peshwa's were ruling the Maharashtra region, they had certain rules instructed to the Dalits of the region.
No Dalit/Untouchable had permission to walk the road when an upper-caste Hindu was walking on the road. They have to wear a black thread to confirm that no upper-caste Hindu will come in contact with them.
In the capital of Peshwa's Pune,
untouchable/Dalits have to attach a broom to their waist so that the broom will wipe out the print of their feet so that no upper caste Hindu gets polluted.
In Pune, under the rule of Peshwas, Dalits/Untouchables had to hang a pot to their neck so that if he spits,
their spit didn't touch the ground just because upper castes thought they would get polluted. Because of this treatment, Dalits of the Maharashtra region were very hurt. When the self-esteem of Dalit Mahar awakened, they enlisted in the British Army,
and this was the beginning of the whole war story of brave Dalit Mahars.
According to their strategy, the native infantry(Mahar soldiers) of the British army, on 31st December 1817, made their way to Pune under the leadership of Captain Staunton.
In his regiment, there were only 500 Mahar soldiers consisting of 260 cavalry units and 25 canon supervisors. This unit reached the shore of the Bhima river after walking 25 miles on the morning of December 31, 1817.
On January 1, 1818, the native infantry of Bombay was on one side of the River under the command of the English Captain Staunton, consisting of 500 Mahar soldiers, and on the other side of the river, there was a huge army of 28000 thousand Peshwas including 2000 Arab soldiers
the command of RaoBaji and Bapu Gokhle.
The battle started at around 9:30 in the morning. Tired and hungry Mahar soldiers fought fearlessly like thunder in a storm. With their bravery and intelligence, Mahar soldiers faced the Peshwa using a different strategy.
The battle was going on when Captain Staunton decided to retreat, watching a huge army of Peshwas. But Mahar soldiers protested very strongly and said, 'we will die fighting these Brahmin/Peshwas but will not give up or surrender. We will not back down until we defeat the Peshwas
This is our promise to you.'
Even when Mahar soldiers were way fewer in number than the Peshwa army. The fierce battle between Mahar and Peshwa was at its peak, but the bravery of Mahar soldiers made Peshwa retreat step by step in the evening.
at around 6 p.m., Mahar soldiers reached the other side of the shore, and the Peshwa army ran away from the battle at 9 p.m.
The main commander of the Peshwa army, Raobaji, ran from the battle, but another commander Bapu Gokhle was captured when he was trying to flee the battle
and was killed by Mahar Soldiers. In just 12 hours, only 500 Mahar teaches a lesson to the Peshwas about what is courage and bravery.
This battle proves to be the downfall of Peshwa's rule entirely. 20 brave Mahar soldiers were martyred during this battle.
The British gave tribute to the Mahar soldier who was martyred during battle and built a victory tower (Vijay stambh) at the place of the battle in 1822, paying their respect to the brave Mahar warriors. And this victory tower is still there and has become the epitome of bravery
for the Dalits of India.
Every year on January 1 Indian army pays tribute here. First, it was known as 'Mahar Stambh.' Later, it became famous as 'Vijay Stambh.'
Peshwas lost this battle even after having the advantage of a huge army of 28000, and only 500 Mahar soldiers won
because of their fierce fighting and courage. Britishers even gave bravery medals to the warriors of the battle of Bhima Koregaon again in 1851.
Every year Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar used to visit Bhima Koregaon on January 1 to pay tribute to our brave forefather.
He said, "It is not imaginary that you are the descendant of our brave heroes. Go to Bhima Koregaon and see that the name of your ancestors is engraved on the
thousands of people reached, but brahminical forces tried to stop them, and violence broke out. You can read about this incident here.

Apart from this, a movie directed by director Ramesh Thete '500 battle of Bhima Koregaon', has been waiting for its release for the last four years, maybe because the upper caste is scared that the fake history of Peshwa's bravery and their atrocities will be exposed.

For some in India, today is Christmas day, and for a few, it's tulsi poojan, which, of course, has a very bogus religious logic. But for us, this is #Manusmritidahandiwas. On this day in 1927, #BabaSaheb and his companions burned Manu smriti during the days of
#mahadsatyagarha. This is one of the main events of the fight of dalit struggle against the evil brahminical system. Let's remember this event proudly.
Upper caste savarana made all effort so that Dr. Ambedkar would not get land for the event. But a Muslim gentleman named
Fatte khan gave his private land for the event. Volunteers have to take a resolution on 5 points.

1. I don't believe in the varna system.

2. I don't believe in the caste system.

3. I believe untouchability is a curse to the Hindu religion, and I will honestly try to end this

The revolutionary ideas of great Bahujan social reformer and Bahujan hero #periyar_ramaswami had shaken the root of Brahminism in south India. But Periyar's words could not reach north India as they should have.
It was because of the hard work of Lalai Singh Yadav Ji the work of
Periyar reached north India. Attacking the caste system and Brahminism, Periyar said, " The brahmin fools you in the name of the God and prepares you to believe in superstition and himself lead a comfortable life, condemns you by calling you an untouchable. Preying on the deities
for brokerage, I condemn this brokerage, and I also caution you not to trust such brahmins."
Periyar, who has a very good understanding of India's history and geography, said, "on observing the world, it is known that there are no more religions and religious beliefs than India.

The concept of Karma in Buddhism is always a topic of debate. Baba saheb said, "Ignorant Hindus, out of sheer want of understanding, say by comparing merely the similarity of words that Buddhism is the same as Brahminism or Hinduism."
Baba saheb cleared this doubt in his book Image
'Buddha and his Dhamma.' A thread on the clarity of 'Karma' in Buddhism.

1. IS THE BUDDHIST DOCTRINE OF KARMA THE SAME AS THE BRAHMINIC DOCTRINE?

-There is no doctrine in Buddha's Dhamma which has created as much confusion as the doctrine of 'Karma.'
-The Buddhist doctrine of 'Karma,' however much it may be the similarity of the word, cannot be the same in its connotation as the brahminic law of 'Karma.'

-The premises of the two are so widely different, indeed so widely opposed, that the result of the two cannot be the same
