திவ்யதேசங்களில் பெரும்பாலும் சொர்க்கவாசல் எனப்படும் பரமபத வாசல் இருக்கும். ஆனால் கும்பகோணம் ஸ்ரீசாரங்கபாணி கோவிலில் சொர்க்கவாசல்
எனப்படும் பரமபத வாசல் கிடையாது.
இதற்குக் காரணம் இத்தலத்து சுவாமி நேரே வைகுண்டத்திலிருந்து இங்கே வந்தார்.

மகாலட்சுமியின் அவதாரமான கோமளவல்லியை மணமுடிப்பதற்காக
திருமால் தான் எழுந்தருளியுள்ள ரதத்துடன் வைகுண்டத்தில் இருந்து
இங்கு வந்து கோமளவல்லியை மணந்து கொண்டார். எனவே, இவரை வணங்கினாலே பரமபதம் (முக்தி) கிடைத்துவிடும். இங்குள்ள உத்ராயண, தெட்சிணாயன வாசலைக் கடந்து
சென்றாலே பரமபதம் கிட்டும்

என்ற ஐதீகமும் உள்ளது. உத்ராயண வாசல் வழியே தை முதல் ஆனி வரையும், தட்சிணாயண
வாசல் வழியே ஆடி முதல் மார்கழி வரையும் சுவாமியை தரிசிக்க செல்ல
வேண்டும். ஏதாவது ஒரு வாசல் தான் இங்கு திறக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும்.
இதே போன்று சொர்க்கவாசல் எனப்படும் பரம பத வாசல் இல்லாத
