Have you ever really stopped to really analyze this quote by George Santayana? Have you thought about it this way? #SaturdaySocial 🧵

George Santayana wrote this quote in 1905. 1905! Think about this a moment. This quote about the importance of remembering history so as not to repeat the mistakes of the past was written before WWI and WWII. We were slow to learn, but learn we did.

We saw the past and remembered it so it could not be repeated. We called out instances in which it seemed like it was coming back. Nobody wants another Nazi Germany. We must learn, however, that just like a virus that mutates, the danger may look a bit different each time.

Social media and technology do not allow for an exact replica of Nazi Germany. There are those, however, that see what he did and attempt to control in the same way he did. The first step, is to convince a population that the media is the enemy of the people.
Sound familiar?

Then they tell you everything the news reports is "fake" unless of course he tells you when its not. Then call out whatever you feel like as truth or not truth based on only your interpretation. In an age of information and facts and truth and access it seems impossible huh?

But it IS possible. We have seen it. We have watched the current MAGA Republican GOP infect their party until it was unrecognizable. They radicalize, infect and destroy all....and then they do it in the name of someone that seems above reproach: God. They're speaking FOR him.

Now, we can just use logic, science, history and facts to defeat this right? Well...that is EXACTLY why they are attacking the books and education. They are telling you the same teachers that launch themselves on gunmen to save their students are....dangerous?

These attacks on institutions of learning are coming from those that lack the intelligence to have a conversation that requires critical thinking and knowledge. How do I know? The main guy is Ron DeSantis. they guy that said AMERICA first floated the idea of stopping slavery.

Not only that, Ron says it was during the Revolutionary War that we did this. When he said people had inalienable rights. Well guys...I hate to break it to you, but this is 1000% wrong! Couple reasons:

1) The "inalienable rights" did not apply to people of color, as evidenced by the fact that POC were not even counted as one human being. They were counted as 3/5 of a man
2) ENGLAND abolished slavery a full 32 years before we did.
