New from me @TheSpectator:

Democrats in Washington, DC and Iowa are now led by a pair of election deniers.

thespectator.com/topic/iowa-dem…

(1/xx)
Following a disastrous cycle, @iowademocrats have elected @RitaHartIA, one of their party’s most prominent 2020 election deniers, to helm them into a critical 2024.

thespectator.com/topic/iowa-dem…

(2/xx)
The decision by @iowademocrats comes weeks after @HouseDemocrats threw out their old leadership and elected veteran election denier Hakeem Jeffries to run their caucus.

I wrote about that @TheSpectator here:

thespectator.com/topic/twilight…

(3/xx)
In Iowa, @RitaHartIA — whose 2020 House campaign ended in a six-vote defeat at the hands of now-#IA01 Congresswoman @millermeeks — won a contentious vote held over Zoom to run @iowademocrats.

thespectator.com/topic/iowa-dem…

(4/xx)
In the months after the 2020 election, @RitaHartIA mounted a dubious challenge to @millermeeks’s win where she asked the US House of Representatives to overturn her defeat and install her in office anyway.

thespectator.com/topic/iowa-dem…

(5/xx)
The failed power grab by @RitaHartIA in #IA02, led by Democratic super-lawyer Marc Elias, failed after it was roundly rejected by both Democrats and Republicans.

thespectator.com/topic/iowa-dem…

(6/xx)
The 2022 cycle was a disaster for @iowademocrats, who saw two longtime statewide incumbents fall to Republican challengers, @brennabird and @robysmithia.

thespectator.com/topic/iowa-dem…

(7/xx)
The state’s only federally elected Democrat, @Axne4Congress, lost to now-#IA03 Congressman @NunnForCongress.

thespectator.com/topic/iowa-dem…

(8/xx)
Adding to the @iowademocrats' incompetence, one of their top #IASEN candidates against @GrassleyWorks was briefly disqualified from running due to a failure to secure enough signatures, as I covered @FreeBeacon at the time.

freebeacon.com/democrats/iowa…

(9/xx)
Looking forward, some of @RitaHartIA's longtime foes think @iowademocrats electing her is a sign of weakness for the party.

thespectator.com/topic/iowa-dem…

(10/xx)
“Rita Hart was willing to throw out Iowa election laws to overturn the results of the 2020 election,” Republican lawyer @AlanOstergren told me.

thespectator.com/topic/iowa-dem…

(11/xx)
“That Iowa Democrats chose her to be the next leader of their party (the tenth in the last twelve years) is a sign of how desperate they are after their losses in 2022.” @AlanOstergren added.

thespectator.com/topic/iowa-dem…

(12/xx)
Luke Martz, of @IAFieldReport fame, added that this has been “absolute chaos and it’s glorious.”

thespectator.com/topic/iowa-dem…

(13/xx)
Interestingly, one of the few bright spots for Iowa Democrats last year didn’t care to weigh in — even to help out her own campaign manager!

thespectator.com/topic/iowa-dem…

(14/xx)
Democratic state senator @SarahforIowa defeated the state’s Republican Senate majority leader in November, and her campaign manager @Brittany_Ruland was one of the candidates @RitaHartIA defeated to become chair.

thespectator.com/topic/iowa-dem…

(15/xx)
One Iowa source told me that Democrats took a long break while counting their ballots, which reminded him of @iowademocrats’ inability to properly count votes in the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination battle.

thespectator.com/topic/iowa-dem…

(16/xx)
It’s been almost three years and there is still no certain winner. In fact, the Associated Press said that it will not declare a winner from the caucus, “given the remaining concerns about whether the overall results are fully accurate.”

desmoinesregister.com/story/news/ele…

(17/xx)
Locally, Republicans are pointing to this battle as the latest in a series of missteps. “With Iowa Democrats, it’s every man for himself,” Luke Martz told me.

thespectator.com/topic/iowa-dem…

(18/xx)
“You saw that today with one of their rising stars refusing to endorse her own campaign manager for chair, and we saw that last fall with Auditor @RobSandIA refusing to lift a finger for their gubernatorial candidate," Martz added.

thespectator.com/topic/iowa-dem…

(19/xx)
National Republicans, for their part, are elated at the news that the future of Iowa Democrats is up to @RitaHartIA. “We look forward to assisting in Rita’s continued electoral failures,” @NRCC spokeswoman @savannahviar told me.

NEW from me @TheSpectator:

It's clear that legislation from #SC03's @RepJeffDuncan, #KY02's @RepGuthrie, #AZ09's @RepGosar, and #KY01's @RepJamesComer just forced the Biden admin's hand in a VERY big way.

Let's see what went down this week...

thespectator.com/topic/inside-r…

(1/xx)
The @HouseGOP launched an all-out war on the remaining Covid vaccine mandates being enforced by the Biden administration. So far they have won some important concessions, but are pushing for more.

thespectator.com/topic/inside-r…

(2/xx)
I talked with several key players involved in the legislative battle, which they claim forced the Biden admin to finally declare an end to some of its coronavirus emergency powers later this year. @HouseGOP, however, wants them shut down now.

Very cool that @semafor, which had to give back millions to FTX, is now being sponsored by an effectively state-controlled Chinese mega-company that funds Chinese genocide efforts.

“Alibaba is "effectively state-controlled," according to a recent study on the company by Garnaut Global, an independent research firm that analyzes the Chinese Communist Party structure and China's technology footprint.”

NEW from me @TheSpectator:

@HomelandGOP, led by #NC08's @RepDanBishop and #TN07's @RepMarkGreen, is demanding answers from TSA after the massive data breach

Here's what they want TSA to answer ASAP

thespectator.com/topic/house-re…

(1/xx) ImageImageImage
#NC08's @RepDanBishop and #TN07's @RepMarkGreen are investigating @TSA to work out how a prolific Swiss hacker who identifies as a “tiny kitten” was able to obtain over a million entries from the No-Fly List.

thespectator.com/topic/house-re…

(2/xx)
The hacker was able to access a 2019 version of the list after what she described as just a few hours!

Following the hack, @HomelandGOP's @RepDanBishop immediately suggested that @HouseGOP planned to learn how this data was left so exposed.

New from me @TheSpectator:

I gave everyone anonymity to take a closer look at what happened last week...and how we finally got to the long-awaited @SpeakerMcCarthy!

thespectator.com/topic/behind-s…

(1/xx)
And then there was Kevin.

In the wake of a forecasted red wave that never materialized, now-@SpeakerMcCarthy plotted with friends and foes alike to secure the magical 218 votes necessary to take the helm of a rowdy, openly feuding House GOP.

thespectator.com/topic/behind-s…

(2/xx)
After fifteen rounds of voting, Republicans eventually united behind him. Key players in the machinations spoke with @TheSpectator about the breakdown in the negotiations that had started in earnest after November’s elections.

New from me @TheSpectator:

The REAL @katieporteroc scandal that literally everyone is ignoring is the fact it took an anonymous instagram account, @DWS________, to do the job that the Capitol Hill press corps *exists to do*

Here we go...

thespectator.com/topic/katie-po…

(1/xx)
#CA47's @katieporteroc, darling of the liberal media, is having a rough couple of weeks. The congresswoman has recently been accused of: firing an employee who allegedly gave her Covid; using racist language, and fostering a hostile workplace!

thespectator.com/topic/katie-po…

(2/xx)
These are explosive allegations to be levied against @katieporteroc, yet the general public would NEVER have heard of any of them were it not for @DWS________, an anonymous Instagram account that did the job of the *entire* DC press corps.

Going to do a thread on some WILD admissions by New York Times staff that show how wildly out of touch they are with America, biology, and basically the entire world

Starting off with how they admit they want to erase pregnant women

(1/x) Image
Here, one of their editors admits she won’t use the term “pro-life”…because that’s not the preferred term of the left, which is obviously their entire readership

(2/x) Image
Here, they discuss the term “master bedroom,” and admit the term has nothing to do with slavery, but that they understand why people would be triggered and want to stop using it anyway
