A big regret of those who've been laid off:
They wish they documented their career accomplishments & accolades.

But...It's never too late to start!

Create a "Career Management Doc" -->
update it consistently & often

I call mine a "Career Hype Doc."

Here's how it works 🧵👇
It includes 3 phases:

• Now (current & past achievements)

• Next (what you want to accomplish over the next few quarters)

• Future (long-term career goals)
It captures 4 perspectives:

• Outcomes that you directly or indirectly enabled

• Track learnings: something new you did or a new skill you learned

• Impact you had on others (this is where you hype yourself up!)

• Add screenshots, artifacts, links, tweets
Pro Tips:

• Set a weekly calendar reminder to update the doc

• Keep it bookmarked & visible so it's readily accessible

• Start a Slack channel that is only you called #hypedoc or #wins to log things you want to add into your Hype Doc (it's like having a timestamped journal)
Grab the template I created in Google Docs and start yours now!

• File > Make a Copy

• Feel free to modify it to fit your needs!

4 years ago, I started writing a letter to my future self on my birthday. It's the most powerful form of journaling that I do.

Then I read about @SahilBloom & how he writes his. I loved it so I refined my process.

My birthday is tomorrow so here's a 🧵to get you started:
1) I used to keep my time frame "open" into the future, but this year I'm taking Sahil's tip:

•Write the letter to yourself 5 years into the future

•5 years is the amount of time in which meaningful life change happens

•Open and read 1 letter every 5 years
2) The four areas to address in each letter:

•Reflections on the present
•Changes to make
•Goals for the future
•Fun & crazy predictions

Some context on each area:

4 Things I Regularly Do As a Seasoned Remote Product Manager to Manage My Time & Get Shit Done

(without any "productivity" apps)

🧵👇
#1: Schedule heads-down work blocks on my calendar

The key here is to *communicate* & *protect*
•I put up an away message on Slack
•I communicate to my team ahead of going "heads down"
•No meetings on Fri & first half of Mon
•Stack as many meetings on Tue & Wed
#2: End my work day by planning for the next one

•Create a checklist of top 3 things to tackle the next day
•Write it down on a post-it & put it on my monitor
•This is the ritual that signals the end of the work day
