•India is the 3rd largest domestic civil aviation market in the world after China & the US

•Domestic passengers more than doubled from 60 million in 2014 to 143 million in 2020,prior to Covid-19

•International air passengers increased from 23 to 35 million

-Tejas fighter planes
-Aircraft carrier INS Vikrant in the Indian Ocean

DEFENCE EXPORTS

•Biggest defence importer for decades.We now export defence equipment to 75 countries

•Our defence exports have increased 6 times in the last 5 years

•In 2021-22,we exported over $1.5 billion worth defence equipment

Aim:increase it to $5 billion by 2024-25

Steps to create an environment conducive to global investment & Indian innovation:

•The rules for approving FDI in the defence sector in India have been simplified

•Simplified the process of granting licenses to industries & increased their validity

•The tax benefits available to the manufacturing companies have been increased in the budget
KARNATAKA:an expert in the world of technology

•25% of India's air/spacecraft industry is in KA

•67% of aircraft & helicopter mnfg. for defence & 65% of aerospace exports is done from KA

•Expertise in the field of technology must become our strength in defence sector
MANTHAN:segment on defence innovation at Aero India

•The MoD collects problems from the 3 services & puts them across to the start ups to come out with viable solutions.

•MoD will hand hold these start ups & back them with financial support.
BANDHAN at AeroIndia

•Aimed at forging & renewing partnerships between business entities for innovative collaboration & strategic transformation of the defence manufacturing sector in the country

•MoUs & transfer of technologies (ToTs) pave the way for more FDI in defence
BUDGET

•75% of defence capital procurement budget has been earmarked for domestic industry in FY 2023-24

NATIONAL CIVIL AVIATION POLICY

•Make flying affordable & safe
•Balanced regional growth
•AIM: Enable 50cr domestic ticketing & 20 crore international ticketing by 2027
GOVT EFFORTS:

•Regional Connectivity Scheme:revival of existing unserved & underserved airports & airstrips

•UDAN(Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) expedited connectivity to T-2 & T-3 cities

•Eg:475 UDAN routes involving 73 airports,9 heliports & 2 water aerodromes operationalised
DRONES

•PLI scheme for drones with an outlay of Rs 120 crore over 3 years

•Liberalisation of drone policy: 25 forms have been reduced to 5

•72 types of fees have been reduced to 4

•90% of airspace marked as ‘Green’ under which no permission is required to operate drones
AGRICULTURE

•Krishi Udan Scheme:transports perishable food products of farmers from the hilly areas,NE states & tribal areas

HADR

•Vande Bharat Mission:India operated air bubbles to facilitate the travel of 1.83 crore passengers during COVID-19

•Operation Ganga rescued 22,500 Indian students from Ukraine at the peak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict

TOURISM

•The synergy between tourism & civil aviation propagates India’s tourism potential

•the e-waste generated around the world in 2019 contained raw materials (mainly iron,copper & gold) worth $57 billion
