1 - Every fibre of my being is appalled at what Shamima Begum did. The detachment, arrogance and lack of any discernible compassion or emotion she has displayed at the consequences of her actions is sickening.
2 - Part of me is thrilled that she will never come back to the UK, and she should pay a huge price for becoming part of a nihilistic death cult, which ruthlessly beheaded charity workers and military personnel alike. It feels like the right decision. The “just” decision.
3 - But feelings are different from thoughts and having thought about it, in my view, I don’t think it is the right decision to stop her returning the to the UK.
4 - Firstly, I look at my own kids. One of whom is fast approaching the age she was when she made the terrible decision to do what she did. As much as I admire young peoples incredible intelligence and wit, they are still kids, with still developing minds.
5 - They do not possess the maturity to understand the gravity of such monumental decisions. Every day parents try to guide their kids towards understanding the consequences of their actions. It’s crucial to their development, and at 15 the brain just isn’t there yet.
6 - Secondly, we are rightly enraged at the stream of gender propaganda thrust upon our children, both in school, society and online. We rightly say that 15 year olds are not capable of making life altering decisions about their bodies…
7 - In the name of another nihilistic cult, gender ideology. We abhor and are appalled by the stories of children who have been radicalised into mutilating their own bodies through a stream of “gender affirmation.” Which in my view is of equal evil to other forms of extremism.
8 - We are being told that to affirm these kids is the only choice, to save them from suicide. This is happening across the west, in plain sight, and again, in my view, is pure evil.
9 - Children are not old enough to make enormous decisions or understand their repercussions. So how can we who stand against one evil and not be consistent in our stance against another? We rightly demand that the whims of a body dysmorphic child must be guarded by an adult.
10 - It would seem to be consistent to apply the same rules to an impressionable, idiotic, radicalised little girl, who thought it would be cool, or in some way, her “duty” to go and partake in the horrors she did. Our anger should be aimed at those who raised her…
11 - …and those who radicalised her. She was a child when she left the UK, with a child’s mind, and that is very important to remember. If we wish to protect children from one evil, then we should apply the same principle and protect them from all.
12 - I say this with some regret, because as I said at the beginning, every fibre of my being wants her to suffer for what she has done. But I don’t believe that is the correct decision. I accept that others will have a different view, which they are absolutely entitled to.
13 - She should be returned to the UK to face the British justice system.

1 - Just opened Twitter after my trip to see the anger levelled at @GBNEWS following the fall out of the @MarkSteynOnline affair. I have been following Mark for years and I believe him to be one of the finest, driest and wittiest journalists on air.
2 - I think his contribution to the channel is immense and his talent incomparable. I am also surprised by the level of anger directed at the channel itself, rather than the state censorship vehicle to which he seems to have fallen foul of, @Ofcom
3 - GB news is working within a state regulated market, because that is how the China style suppression of free speech works in this country if you wish to broadcast live television. Only an act of parliament can change that. Legislation much needed in my view.
Thread - I trained for three years at a great drama school in the UK. I was blessed to work with the best people from all disciplines solidly for 22 years in showbiz. I said that the UK was a warm and welcoming country on TV two years ago.
Late in 2020 my agent dropped me after some blue tick folks called me a racist on here. I believe that all people are created equal under God and that every single human life is sacred. I do not discriminate over immutable characteristics. #AllLivesMatter
It is with bitter sweet feeling that i look forward to this film coming out (and the inevitable 1 🌟 guardian review 🤣. Sweet because it was so wonderful to be permitted to work again in a field i have such passion for. The arts.
